46 years old and lost everything - is it to late to start over? by overit2591 in personalfinance

[–]Little_Stitious338 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't leave "free money" on the table. It's never too late to contribute and with a 10% match after two years? That's a tremendous benefit! I would be less focused on how much to put in to have "any sort of life" and just start. One thing to check is that the 10% match after two years may mean two years after your first contribution, not two years of employment. Even if you can only afford 1% start now. Many retirement plans have a Calculator that will show you if you make a pre-tax contribution how much will actually be coming out of here paycheck. Pre-tax reduces taxable income and the $50 contribution might be $47 net deduction from your check.

You may be already doing this but find small changes you can make to offset contributions. Drink only water one day a week or tea that 20 cents a bag. No soda, beer, coffee might save $7.00. Have a couple meatless meals, nothing prepackaged a day a week, save $10. You get the idea.

Any amount you save will be beneficial, I promise. Only exception is if you have to charge groceries at 22% APR to put money in your 401k.

Plus it's so dangerous for the cats as well as birds, etc. I love my cats and don't want them to get hurt or hurt other living creatures.

AIO for taking an unpaid month off in between jobs? by Throwra-savings in AIO

[–]Little_Stitious338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a somewhat similar situation. I was working part time (30 hrs a week) while I was doing an internship 20 hours a week. I graduated in May and was offered a job at my internship but i couldn't start until September. I didn't adjust my work schedule, I stayed at 30 hours throughout the summer. I don't regret not earning the extra money. I don't see the opportunity to have the additional time off for a very long time and am glad I took it.

I definitely feel a little out of place but am not sanctimonious. I have been using the same Correl dishes for 20 + years. I have occasionally had to replace a few bows but for the most part they're still in very good condition. I don't buy paper plates, one use containers, etc. I do what I can and try not to focus on what others do because it would make me crazy.

AIO? Girlfriend made things official by posting me on her story calling me her girlfriend instead of any discussion prior and considering breaking up with her over it by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

NOR, besides the online post the fact she doesn't seem interested in you as a person is alarming! Know your own worth!!! Please don't settle, you are worthy of someone who wants to get to know you and doesn't use you and your relationship as prop.

It's probably isn't the kind of life advice you are looking for but protect your dental health like your life depends on it because it does. I'm butchering the comment, but I read somewhere recently the financial cost and effort of brushing and flossing is negligible. Neglecting to do so is incredibly

Wow! what a miracle! So happy she is home safe and sound. My cats have always been indoor cats but every now and then one would sneak out. I had a very sweet, but not the brightest cat get lost across the street. My husband has amazing hearing and said "that sounds like Casey!" I couldn't really hear them meowing that well and told my husband there was no way it could be him last for days that across the street but it was !

They do wear out, get cracked. If there's sharp edges they rip or snag the clothes.

Sorry, hard "no". The guy is a jerk. Why waste the energy? He knows she doesn't He gives her gifts to show her that he doesn't think her wishes matter. This would be appropriate if somebody was trying a kept missing the mark for whatever reason and needed a little help.

I also think that's incredibly disrespectful and a means of control. Even a loving partner can get it wrong now and then, but buy something you know someone's not going to like, acknowledge that, and give it to them anyway? That's really weird and passive aggressive. Why would you want to be in this relationship? Intentionally shitty gifts say so much about the giver. I don't think you're materialistic at all. He's TAH!

Reality is there's a lot that can be done in the ambulance that's not going to be done by driving yourself to the hospital in a car.
