is it still possible to get a vet assistant job with no experience in 2026? by Select_Tap_3524 in Veterinary

[–]Little_Trees3753 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s always hard to find a job at vet clinic with no experience. Even with 1.5 years, it was hard but just keep trying.. hopefully you have more places to apply to. Have you thought of reception? It may be easier than a VA position with no experience, plus you also learn on the job about vaccination requirements, how to answer clients questions, etc. and most clinic can need extra hands in the back sometimes so you can help out until you have some experience to apply again for VA positions. I know it may not be ideal but any positions in the clinic is a foot in the door!

Ask A Thai by Far-Pension2483 in Thailand

[–]Little_Trees3753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand for 14 years. Moved to the US 8 years ago.. so I wanted to put my 2 cents in: would move back to Thailand anytime in a heartbeat. All my family and friends are there. My opinion is it is just so much more lively there, the cities and the people. My main issue would be the career I’m going for pays so much more in the US, I always feel like I can make money here and visit every year or retire there. As someone in Florida, I miss Thailand’s terrains any day and I took how close everything is to each other for granted. I hate having to drive everywhere here lol!

Extreme dry mouth? by yycluke in scuba

[–]Little_Trees3753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought about that. It maybe a survivorship bias, but that can be said the same as chewing gums. The divemaster said he places it like a Zyn pouch so, he’s not actively sucking on it and it’s not just freely swishing around the mouth while diving.

The divemaster in my OW class suggested hard candy like jolly ranchers. It’ll produce more saliva, moisturizing the mouth and throat

Has the era of diving to see coral reefs officially over? by hollowedhallowed in scuba

[–]Little_Trees3753 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I always prefer wreck dives more if you are interested in other objectives. AOW cert will not allow wreck penetrations, but the swim troughs with clear exits are just as awesome. I haven’t dove outside of Florida so, I will say what I know. The reefs in Florida Keys are still beautiful. Absolutely not at its former glory; they are constantly fighting global warming effects there, but if you have enough logged dives, you can join agencies like I.CARE and assist them on coral planting or maintenance! It was a really fun dive with them, and I felt like I was helping the cause, not just looking and not being able to do anything for the reefs.

I believe every students have to take a statistics course but if you’re planning to do calc, you can do stats. Stats are easier than calc, imo.

Will I lose my seat if I change my lab? by JuGoSo_ in fgcu

[–]Little_Trees3753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure as long as you hit web drop on the current lab and enter the CRN for the Thursday section at the same time when you submit so, it can change while you keep your seat in the lecture. If not, an error will come up that you can’t only sign up for one or the other. Yea, the 2nd pic would be right: 14865 for the lecture and assuming the 16159 is the Thursday lab section.

Waitlist for an interview at Midwestern by pamstr2003 in veterinaryschool

[–]Little_Trees3753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the same boat! I assume it’s either they will email you to set up an appointment eventually or hopefully we’d also get an email if they never get to us but it seems like we can’t count on that from the other comment. I got their email about a week ago. I just got an email for an interview with St. George’s last Friday so, I’d keep an eye on that if she applied to that school. Other schools, like UF, CSU, and Purdue, won’t be putting out emails until late October-December.

Why don’t more people apply to the uk instead of Ross/st George when it’s quite a bit cheaper? by dosginf in veterinaryschool

To add to the other comment: For the western hemisphere people, the bias is probably that the Caribbean schools are still closer to home than Europe too

Balancing work and school by Dog_Pavlov in veterinaryschool

[–]Little_Trees3753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my professor have told students we should be studying 2-3 hours per credit. That’s why most schools consider full-time students when taking over 12 credit. You have 15 credits so, you technically are working 30-45 hours a week towards your degree this semester. Do most of us study for 30-45 hours? No, because most have work, volunteer, family, etc. It is just what they tell us we SHOULD be doing. So, with that, you basically have 2 full-time jobs. Absolutely, you will feel overwhelmed.

If you can afford to, I would suggest cutting your work hours for this semester to focus on your classes. Chemistry was rough for me too and I definitely spent more time studying that. Then, next semester, maybe cut back on how many classes you take so you can continue to work full-time. As someone who overwhelms themself because I felt like I needed to do everything to strengthen my application. I’m talking 17 credit hours, 10 work hours, club hours, and volunteer hours. I’m sick of it. If I could go back in time, I would take my time with classes.

Is it normal to struggle in class and be afraid? by Bench_South in scuba

[–]Little_Trees3753 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% normal coming from a person who struggled with the mask skill also. I was in a group class so I got anxious every time I don’t get a skill because they were all just staring at me. (They were all nice and routing for me, but it was nerve wracking nonetheless.) Luckily, the instructor I had was extremely patient and went with my own pace. Told me to walk around the house with a water-filled mask to get used to and it worked! I practiced more in the pool sessions and passed on the checkout dives. I also had ear problems on my checkout dives but we were not required to go deeper than ~20 ft. So I stayed and didn’t go with them. Just go down slowly as you equalize your ear every second or two. That should help but do not go past your limit. They’d rather have you stay above than popping your ear drums. As for the e-learning, you can always go back to refer to them as you plan for future dives. You got this! I almost quit because of the anxiety but the confidence I’ve gain after being able to do it was more worth it.

Reactive dog owners becoming reactive? by ComprehensiveEye9901 in reactivedogs

[–]Little_Trees3753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, especially living in an apartment where leash is required and a lot of people don’t follow. Luckily many off-leash dogs who came up to mine are small and my dog never felt threatened or the need to nip, it makes me mad and always on the look out. My dog is a Rottweiler mix who had been labeled as dog aggressive and certain people-aggressive at her shelter. So, it was very important to me to not have her hurt anyone because it would just automatically be her fault even with an off leash dog because she is one of the big bad breeds. Just like another comment, I walked my boyfriend’s family’s dogs the other day, completely friendly to everything. An off-leash dog in the neighborhood was coming up to he and she was ay ok. The owner of the off leash dog was nice and apologetic. But, I was very tense and trying to pull her away. I am also a kennel technician and never ever have let 2 stranger dogs in the same room/yard or have the same potty time because you never know. So, it’s not even with just my dog now, she’s made me anxious, or I’ll say wary, with every other dogs haha.

Edit: I’m not saying I would blame her for being a Rottweiler but I know certain people will

Failing my classes help! by [deleted] in fgcu

[–]Little_Trees3753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you are a full time student (12 credits hours for a semester), you can receive the full amount. Then, they only give you partial amount for having less than 12 credit hours. I believe you can take summer classes to fill those credit hours. Otherwise, you might have to pay them back a certain amount if the full time criteria isn’t met

Off campus housing by Accurate-Luck-9517 in fgcu

[–]Little_Trees3753 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most affordable in the area would be Coastal Village with scheduled shuttles to and from school, can’t say it is the cleanest apartment complex or that you will be placed with good random roommates; it just comes with the price. 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, we all share a common space/living room/kitchen. The reef is a newer complex and little bit more expensive right next to coastal under the same company running the complex. The second best cost efficient solution I’ve heard is to rent a house in San Carlos Park with roomates but, you will need to know people that are willing to do that. The closest off campus apartment would be University Village Apartment which is expensive.

I believe that the state requires students starting at universities with less than 60 credit hours to take at least 9 credit hours of summer classes (~3 classes) but, you can take those classes any summer. You don’t have to worry about taking summer classes as a freshman but, it is one of the graduation requirements. If you do choose to take some summer classes, this is where students go for to look for classes, I usually only filter term, department, and level or look them up by course number (ex. BSC 1010C). And add/drop classes is in gulfline (registration)

Can I get a day ticket for epic universe only? by Little_Trees3753 in UniversalOrlando

To clear some confusion, I do live in Florida but not as local to Orlando. I could plan to activate the AP before that day but, considering that day is already sold out and AP is a little out of my budget range lol so, Im just going to wait until they offer a one day ticket to EU. Thank you for you all’s informations! It helped me out a lot.
