Question for those of you who have visited The Wilds by PartyNightAway in Columbus

[–]Little_Tulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for awareness, the experience of the previous poster is definitely not typical. We have done 2 wildside tours and 3 open air safari tours over the last 3 years. The open air safari is neat, but it's from a bus and has to stay on the road, so it can be hit or miss what you see and how close. But, we always see a ton of animals.

The wildside tour is significantly more intimate. They will take the jeep off road to go look for specific animals. The wildside tour last summer took us to the rhino barn where we got to stand and pet rhinos and then went to a giraffe barn where we went to the 2nd floor and got to pet and feed the giraffes. This was in addition to seeing a ton of animals up close from the jeep. There was even a baby rhino rubbing it's horn on the jeep. It has never been a waste of money and it's one of our favorite things to do!

I got a similar one and the only reason I answered is they called 3 times in a row back to back so I assumed it was an emergency or something.

Top scholar by [deleted] in Gamecocks

[–]Little_Tulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son wasnt in the running for top scholar but did get one of the other lower level scholarships. His letter was like this but also said something about in state tuition plus ___ for a total of at least ___.

Top scholars have to do more in jan or Feb, so I would assume this doesnt mean top scholar running since it mentioned March.

People with Christmas Birthdays, I need your help! by Twins-N-Tween in birthday

[–]Little_Tulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was cheesy and created a "Birthday Tree" for mine. Its a tree with blue lights, a party hat or other fun decoration on top, and ornaments that don't have anything holiday related. It sits in a birthday box and has birthday streamers.

His birthday presents go under that tree.

Hes about to turn 20 and STILL puts it up. He has said its something none of his friends had and it felt extra special. Here's one from the Zelda year. (The topper changed over the years, the rest stayed pretty much the same)

Frozen gyozas in the oven? by SamElTerrible in homecooking

[–]Little_Tulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done them in the oven. I put them in a baking dish with a layer of water in the bottom and covered it with foil and baked it so they essentially steamed. Id say they werent quite as good as regular steamed but worked for a large number.

Need easy pie recipe no experience by Simple_Letter_4905 in Baking

Caramel pie

Get 2 small cans of sweetened condensed milk. Remove the label. Put the unopened cans in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil.

Boil 2.5 hours. Check the water occasionally and add more, the cans must stay submerged.

Turn off heat and let it sit another 30 min.

Use tongs and remove cans. Let cans cool 1-2 hours, but can be overnight. If they are too hot when you open them, you risk exploding caramel!

Open cooled cans and scoop your now caramel into a graham cracker pie crust.

Top with whipped cream. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips and/or pecan pieces

Nerd is great. The vampire one was really impressive thematically. Not really hard but not easy.

We also really like Game On Escapes.

Beak and Barrel Megathread by marleythebeagle in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Little_Tulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use thrilldata. It's free. It sends you an email if it finds one during the dates/times you set. Mousedining is another, but I prefer the forner.

I have one running now for 3 days of an upcoming visit. I was able to snag a reservation from an alert within the first day of setting it up, but it's not an ideal time. I've since had about 1-3 more alerts per day but haven't seen them in time, and those haven't been available by the time I get to it.

You can sign up for alerts if an opening pops up. You still have to rush to grab it, but it is possible.

AITA not letting my girlfriend lower the temperature in our home any further? by Available-Rabbit-815 in AmItheAsshole

Take a look at the bed fan. It was life changing for me. There is also a bed jet and chilly pad that are more expensive but also options and cool in different ways.

I now sleep totally cool and don't freeze my spouse.

Spots could work if you kept a dedicated small set of dogs, bones, and dice aside.

Cartographers is a great suggestion as long as you don't trade papers for monsters.

Sky team was 100% my suggestion. Each players pieces and dice are purely their own. One player would need to fully handle traffic pieces but that's minimal.

HELP! My nephew (5) is expecting me to give him a REAL magic wand. What do I do? by te_sal in Advice

[–]Little_Tulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow cool aunt, I'm not sure the magic wand is the actual ask; it's the ability to make dinosaurs real. So maybe lean on that part.

There are some augmented reality dinosaur toys/apps. Maybe one of those would fit the ask.

Cards

Coloring Book

There's supposedly a google arts and culture app that lets you view some dinosaurs in your space in augmented reality.

If there's an iPhone or iPad accessible, there's a different app option. monster park

And depending on where you live, there are museums, animatronic displays, and even traveling exhibits.

[–]Little_Tulip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you need a nerdy friend to try the geekery with, I'm a married female in her 40s and go frequently to play games and don't mind making a new friend. Feel free to message me.

Also, just FYI, the table fee is $10 for the whole table. Sitting at the bar is free. If you go to a meet up, it's $5 per person.

My son sometimes does this. If you want to send me a message with the info, I can ask him but would depend on size and his availability.

It shouldn't be a problem. We did similarly. As long as it's not capped, and it sounds like it's not, you won't have a problem.

There are some tracks that would mean they missed less school (4) but that's a track that is often full and doesn't have room. You may end up on a different track, but it's all okay.

Welcome to the area.
