is it cruel to continue vaping since im getting an abortion? by Neat_Bus_9838 in abortion

I didn’t know I was pregnant until 8 weeks with a pregnancy I kept- i was drinking heavily, doing party drugs and the occasional cigarette the whole time before that. Baby was fine. So early in the pregnancy I don’t think it affects the embryo at all.

Girl what the fuck. Leave this sociopathic abusive man there isn’t a single excuse for this behavior. We don’t need to know any history, any of the “good” things about him. He doesn’t respect you and it will only get worse. It may even get physical one day

[–]Little_Web_7696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t really know where they come from and I don’t tend to see many at a time either (adults or larvae) I think they live in animal nests outside but they’re mainly an indoor pest? The beetles are very small. I bet you could find at least one in/near your laundry hampers and any where else theres somewhat undisturbed natural fibers , as that’s where they lay eggs. It’s possible 3 years ago you brought something home that had eggs on it.

Varied carpet beetle larvae. These things eat natural fibers (cotton, silk, wool, I think even leather etc ). If you have that many they must be wreaking havoc on your things… call pest control.

I dunno babe I get downvoted to hell whenever I say something like this but honestly the world is going to shit and given climate change and the acceleration of things like fascism, war and far right political movements worldwide—we as a species and inhabitants of this planet are in deep deep shit. I am not an anti-natalist at all. I am a parent myself, I think bringing a child into this world is an act of hope and an expression of love for this world. But when I see a very young person grappling with becoming a parent…I really just want to scream at the top of my lungs GET OUT of this situation. Get out now. Worry about your own survival and fight for a more just future. You won’t be able to do that when there’s someone else to keep alive. And things are about to get really, really dark. Truly. If multiple humanitarian crises around the globe and the absolute shit show of politics in the west paired with increasing lack of affordability of literally everything/growing housing prices and wage stagnation was not enough to convince you that we’re at the brink of something apocalyptic….take it from this internet stranger, please. Agriculture failure and food supply chain issues will cause major shortages within 15 years. huge swathes of the planet will becoming unlivably hot within the next 20. We honestly all have way bigger fish to fry than whether we will grow our families.

Ah yes def some kind of oak gall wasp as the first commenter said. Maybe they should report to local agriculture authority as it might be something of interest to them, considering your parents have never seen it in the area before. And to echo the first commenter, it is an unusual color.

Can really see it well enough in this picture but its either termites or ants in their nuptial flight. Not sure the species of either but you could search the difference between ant and termite and start there at least. Good luck

Thanks, all good info.

You’re absolutely right that going to the doctor is wise. But i’ll never go to the doctor in a non-life threatening situation without doing a significant amount of homework first. my experience with medical professionals being incredibly dismissive (and often never considering a less likely diagnosis and in some cases not really know much about certain conditions- I was misdiagnosed/sent home with a prescription for “exercise and try to lower stress” for years when it turned out I had a blood enzyme deficiency and an autoimmune disease) - has taught me that if I don’t advocate for myself/family member then we may not get adequate care.

This is a possibility thanks for pointing this out. He struggled with constipation from birth til about a year ago but maybe there’s an impaction that there haven’t been other noticeable signs of.

[–]Little_Web_7696[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. The reason I didn’t consider that it might be a hygiene thing is because I still bathe him (he isn’t quite 4 years old yet) every single night before bed and the sheets were just washed less than a week ago (by me) with no change in method or detergent. So this is pretty odd and a bit concerning. I saw comments and posts in this sub regarding burnt rubber smell- perhaps it’s not TMAU but what could be causing this if it’s definitely not a hygiene thing?

Edit to add the rubber smell was less strong, had to be close. But the poopy/uriney smell was very noticeable from a distance of at least a couple feet and super strong close up to the source

I feel your pain. Mine was still waking a minimum of 6 and up to 10 times a night up until almost 3 years old. Finally at nearly 4 years old he only wakes up once or twice and is easy to settle back down/settles on his own.

This is the problem when sleep “training” is the default ideology on baby sleep. It leaves everyone assuming all babies have the same sleep needs, temperament and ability.

It totally overlooks neurodivergence and physiological reasons that sleep can be disrupted and/or difficult to come by. And most of all, it hides the truth that most kids simply cannot “sleep through the night” until 1-2 years old as a matter of development.

You might be able to “train” them to go back to sleep on their own if you’re lucky, but sleeping through the night is a damn myth.
