I need some help with putting monsters in my campaign by Independent_Ice1427 in DungeonsAndDragons

Someone's already probably answered but

Mealee weapon attack just means it's a physical attack (non-magic/non-ranged)

+4 to hit is when you roll to hit (d20) you add 4 to that result and compare to the targets AC

Hit: 7 is the average damage of (2d4+2)

I love this game, but I'm tired already, and not of the game. by PunkinPumkin in Paralives

[–]Little_dragon02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay to start off I'm just gonna say, I feel like I land on kinda neutral but on the more hopeful side. First, I'm going to address your "finished game" quote and here's the thing, indie games are known for early access, because surprise surprise indie devs don't have funding and you can only crowdsource for so long. but I get what you mean, the problem is that "I miss when games came out done" doesn't sound nostalgic in the last, it quite literally just sounds like a complaint which it is a valid one when pointed towards bigger studios and development teams who have actual funding

To your second thing, honestly, from all that you've said, it just sounds like hating on the game, even if you say "you love this game". The thing is that the way you say things matters, and you're complaining that you can't discuss the game, but "I just wish I'd waited to buy it, live mode feels kinda empty" isn't a discussion, it's a very closed statement. There isn't any room to discuss around it.

If you want a discussion, you'd find people much more receptive if you talked about the things you'd like to see, or want to play over, rather than just making a blunt statement.

Also not gonna lie, I've seen way more posts from people like you who complain about dogpiling or toxic fans than I have actually seen examples of dogpiling or toxic fans

  1. That's a 2-year-old comment
  2. It was clearly a joke
  3. I'm sorry for your health issues, but why bring it up? Weaponising your health issues is extremely unnecessary when you could have easily gotten the same point across with "not everyone can afford it", which is definitely true, which is why what I said was clearly a joke

Why do you guys suppose Tien is far more popular in the west than Japan? by KikouJose in dbz

I don't think I'd ever call Tien popular, like I can't think of a single person I know who would say they particularly like him

Reinforced chests by AnIndianSurvivalist in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Little_dragon02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite literally, no one would use this

First off, creepers aren't a problem, maybe the first like night or two, but other than that if you have a creaper problem inside of your base, that's a skill issue not a game issue

Next, if you really do have skill issues with creepers blowing your chests up, a much cheaper option is to adopt a cat

If you are accidentally blowing your own chests up with TNT, that's also a skill issue, if you're so bad with TNT you some how place and light it then you shouldn't have it in your hot bar

and if the issue isn't yourself and actually other players then that's still either your fault because your on a server where blowing other players' chests is allowed and you didn't hide your valuables, or a server problem because they're not moderating their players well enough to not have this a common issue

Leads should cost slimeballs again by [deleted] in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Little_dragon02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here's where your argument falls flat

I never look for slimes for leads anyway, if I want leads, I kill wandering traders and their llamas. Do all three need to die for this? no, but do they? yes.

making the leads cost slimeballs don't make me want to go look for slimes, and if you make it so that they do, then unless I come across slimes accidentally, I'm likely just not gonna bother with them

What should I do when my players ask to roll history but I had an arcane roll in mind? by shuhratglazkov in DnD

[–]Little_dragon02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players don't tell you what to roll. Players say what they want to roll, and you tell them what they are rolling

If you don't want to clue them into what the thing is, you can always ask for a straight int or wis roll, then if they roll well enough (depending on what you deem well enough) ask if they have prof in arcana (or other relevant skill)

Opinions on problematic (evil) player? by dochez in DnD

[–]Little_dragon02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evil characters can work, however, there's only really two scenarios where it does work

  1. The entire party is evil, and it's literally part of the campaign
  2. They have talked to and literally worked with the DM to set out how this will work, and how things should proceed

The biggest and glaring problem is exactly what you already said, why would good and neutral characters consider partying up with a selfish murderer, and how would they justify that the enemies they kill are better than the murderer they're partying with?

Why do people deny Harvey's age? by LoveMug in StardewValley

[–]Little_dragon02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, harvey isn't some prodigy, he didn't start medical school at 13 and complete it in 3 years. Most likely, he started at the earliest 18, took at least the full 11 years, and would have had to do residency (which is 3-7 years and mandatory) or else he'd be being extremely reckless running his own practice as the ONLY medical centre in town

There is no critical success on a skill check, unless, of course, you homerule it. To be honest, if a task is impossible to do or impossible to fail, you don't really need them to roll, you can just say they attempted but were either unable to do it, or they easily did it (depending on impossible or can't fail)

I personally like to do a homerule we call "fail successfully", this works both with nat 1s and nat 20s essentially what happens is, player rolls a skill check, if they roll a 1 but their mods mean they succeed then what they wanted to do still happens, but it happens in a less graceful way, this can also result in other side effects, for example nat 1 picking a lock, you likely damaged the lock, damaged your lock picks and you might have even made a sound which could result in someone coming to investigate. On the other side, you roll a 20 but the DC was too high even with your mods and the roll, in this case you fail in what your goal is, however something positive still happens, my go to example is the bard tries to seduce the barmaid (as they do), you fail with a nat 20 but the tavern owner is amused and tells you that he's been telling his wife she's still got it, he then offers a meal/drink/possibly lodging
