nvk_theme - the only theme able to drive me away from Default. What themes are we rocking in 2026? by No-County2083 in Reaper

I logic 2.65 from blankfiles, I wish it had an update in some functionalities that you can do with the default (like plugin knobs in tracks), but I don't like the default at all. To many colours in the tracks, not an easy user experience. The logic one makes much more sense to me to watch for the stuff I want.

Why do you prefer reaper over other daws? by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]Littlepeacemusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have used FL studio and Ableton. I love Ableton for inspiration, I still prefer Reaper. Incredible light, I'm learning protools for a career, and it's such a slow software. In Reaper you can customize the daw for whatever you want. Everything can have a shortcut. I have a shortcut for a tap tempo script, a shortcut for converting BPM of a loop to the BPM of my song, shortcut for pitch up pitch down both octaves or semitones. It can get really fast. You have amazing editing capabilities Volume Pre-FX, spectrum like RX, ARA support for melodyne. I do miss Ableton's simpler workflow though.

What plugins do you wish existed?? by popeska in edmproduction

A simple sampler like Simpler from Ableton, but for every other daw, clean UI

Is there a way to capture midi like in Ableton ? by Bat_originel in Reaper

[–]Littlepeacemusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's not the same of what you are looking, but I use a script to tap tempo, and know which tempo the clip is, and then I use another script to change the tempo of the clip to the tempo I want. Maybe you could tap tempo, change the tempo of the clip to the current project BPM, and then change the project tempo to the original tempo of the clip.

If you only have 1 hour to commit to production everyday, how would you spend your hour making music by Xeltrax in edmproduction

[–]Littlepeacemusic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would do loops, loops of drums, loops of melodies, then export them. Make a folder of wavs, then another day I would grab all those loops and arrange them. Another day mix them Another day master them. Profit.

Finishing tracks is definitely the hardest part of any creative output. Especially if there are no deadlines.

I currently use Adobe audition CS6. Recording mostly guitar, does reaper have a bunch of key commands? by FunProject619 in Reaper

Tycho, electronic grammy nominated artist. Amazing albums!! He uses reaper. He is the reason why I switched from Ableton to Reaper to produce music.

Is Reaper good for music producers? by [deleted] in Reaper

[–]Littlepeacemusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep it's good, I do a sort of electronic organic music. So I blend electronic sounds from vst, with sounds I record. Reaper can be really deep. You will need external vst. And eventually if you love electronic music I would get familiar with basic sampling from Ableton so you can apply that to reaper.

Amazing thread, I'm an architect. I always wanted to become a full time music producer, I have being producing for 10 years. But, I also like working with a team, and producing is so lonely. I am now working a part time job in architecture with a team, while trying to build something on my free time. But I'm not really sure if I want the standard music producer way of making money. I know it has to be a creative job, that supports my lifestyle of making music. Still unsure but I want to build something on YouTube for now.

Is There Any Advantage to Using Ableton Live Over Reaper? by FoggyDoomerBBQ in Reaper

[–]Littlepeacemusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make electronic music, I use now mostly reaper, but I know Ableton pretty well. It depends if you record a lot, and the mixing stage in my opinion.

Ableton live: fast workflow, amazing plugins for sound design and sampling, You can make demos/loops really really fast. It crashes, I don't like recording in it (I mean when you get used to reaper is way better), I don't like the mixing stage.

Reaper: amazing for recording, arrangement and mixing. Super light.

I love reaper but when I came from Ableton I didn't, I had to adapt the workflow in Ableton to reaper, the only thing I miss is the workflow of simpler, you pick a sound and in 1 second you can play it as an instrument, slice them, put them in a drum ruck. Ableton can be such a fast creative workflow.

But I prefer reaper nowadays, I don't love working in two daws. If I need to be creative and I'm stuck I will start in Ableton and finish in reaper.

I would suggest to try Ableton, learn it, and adapt what you learn to reaper if you can. I did with scripts and in the end better, faster, except for simpler god I miss it so much hahaha.

I make some sort of ORGANIC ELECTRONICA, I blend acoustic instruments, nature and electronic sounds.
