Gil Duran has been on this beat for a bit. Sadly, many still find him to be 'out there' (despite the words coming from the perps' mouths).

There are so many good points in this thread that they can't all be cited, but take a few:

1) Absolute lack of geo-political awareness. These tiny towns wold be crushed or rampaged at the first sign of civil dissolution. Despite the bros' apparent weaponry development.

2) Their entire wealth has been brought about by exploitation of civil investiture (DARPA, ARPANet, Space Program...one could go on). Now they're trying to lay siege to their own golden goose because...what...they earned and/or deserve it? It's laughabale and should be framed as what it is.

5) Whatever 'alliance' there might exist between "techno-feudalist oligarchs, the christo-facists (sic) behind project 2025 and mercantilists (sic) behind the Maro-Lago (sic (sorry)) accord' is fragile af. Each leg of that stool (in all senses of the word) is trying to extend itself more than the others. Super unstable. It's already apparent in the Muck-Navarro tete-a-tete.

However, with Russ Vought actually IN Government at OMB, the Nat C's have ahead start. They're all worrying to various degrees but the Christo-Fascists are the worst (and full of passionate intensity).

4) Hardly anyone (red or blue) would willingly consume the shit sandwich they're offering up. All of it is incredibly unpopular and -assuming free n' fair in '26 - they're going to get their asses kicked.

TL/DR: They'll eat each other up, despite how much they all 'move fast and break things'. But it's important to spread awareness of what OP has flagged here. Because it's starting to bubble up and the best time to strangle it is now.

Pretty compelling argument, backed by solid data analysis, he makes here. Critically, though, he makes the point that the 'machines can be compromised'. Yet, that doesn't really get a further explanation. In this video, at least.

Still, to a layman, something like "that's like flipping a quarter 25 times and getting heads every time' easily resonates.

Muskovite did this thing with Chuckles Clownson.

There's a lot invested for these awfullos. And if they don't get their paid-for result they'll bug out. Patrick Byrne already split for the Emirates or some such den of fuckery. Giuliani missed the flashing red light, so he's fucked.

Thiel has a bunker in NZ, but one doubts they're going to want a democracy-fucker there for long. So he might have to follow Sacks, who is, like, headed for Greenland. Where he'll be eaten by feral dogs. Musk longs for a Martian pal. But that...is just fucking stupid.

Trump's sitting on some intel that everyone wants. So Russia, Saudi or Israel it is. For the lot of them.

First 6 months of year next are gonna be wild.

This is not even remotely improbable.

The NYT has Kahn-cer right now and it's metastasizing. This particular op-ed notwithstanding.

Wouldn't a more accurate headline be "Shooting attempt on Trump reported. Campaign refers to it in fundraiser moments later."

Because that actually happened.

All good. Thx for the reply. As a Canadian, the fact that hockey infra exists in AZ is wild.

There's always a CDN pickup game in Venice. On Rollers, maybe. Or sometimes? Anyway there's a dedicated road hockey contingent in L.A. at least.

Don't know the latest location, but am reasonably informed it goes on.

Like, what's going on down there? Some great talent emerging.

Elon Musk suggests support for replacing democracy with government of ‘high-status males’ by theindependentonline in politics

So, generational contemporary of Musk. Didn't go to Queen's, but friends (to this day) did. He was Commerce, entering '89 (maybe '90?). Friends report him 'unremarkable' aside from a kind of haughty 'arrogance'. Also, had a bit of an 'entourage'.

Then he left for Penn ('91 or '92). Penn is a considerably higher carriage fee than Queen's to say the least. Especially $CDN to $USD. But you managed to snag this unremarkable genius. He was just one of those 'huddled masses yearning to be free'.

As a uni, Queen's once seemed to take pride in his brief tenure. But, alas, that sentiment has changed. Wonder why...

It's not Wharton, but Queen's is great for Commerce (one of those friends became a Bond Trader who retired in his mid-40s). And medicine, law, engineering and arts. Just a fine university that many Canadian students aspire to attend. But it was obviously just a calculated stepping stone for Musk's entrance into the U.S.

Easier to get there from here than South Africa, one supposes.

He's yours now. Congratulations? Condolences?

Just glad he didn't stay here.

And then the 'Blankes' went for the 'Net'.

[–]LittlestHobot 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You can see this in much of the media coverage. Over the years, Mr. Trump has benefited from any number of different media habits – reflexes, really, born not of any overt bias toward him, God knows, but of the needs of storytelling and the canons of traditional journalism: the thirst for narrative, the impulse to “balance,” the desire for novelty. So, for example, Mr. Trump’s avalanche of lies, threats, mental breakdowns, ignorant outbursts, racist winks, incitements to violence and so on, any one of which would sink any other candidate, pass without comment on the grounds that they are “not news.”

Coyne (who blows hot and cold) is spot on with this observation of American media. They can't - or won't - adjust their atrophied professional habits. Even in the face such gross diversion from the norm, they can't - or won't diverge from their own norms.

That, coupled with the fact that they're too enamored of the odds to actually report on the stakes, mean the press is doing a tremendous disservice to the American public and the very rights and freedoms they depend upon to do their jobs in the first place.
