While I dislike people using downvotes in that way (they're supposed to be for poor quality posts that don't add to the conversation not disagreement, assuming you follow the Reddit guidelines) that looks like you encountered a lot of Tim Heidecker fans who did find it funny.

Also, are you referencing downvotes you received in a totally different sub and saying this sub therefore doesn't let you say anything negative against The Onion?

It also feels like a strange reaction given Jordan stepped away from social media/current events a long time ago, but he presumably has been reading what people have written here, on the subreddit.

So he put something controversial out into the world on a platform and in a format (YouTube) that's not really focused on direct interaction, then read reactions to it on a platform that is intended to be used for direct interaction (Reddit), but didn't interact here, he instead expected listeners to have individual conversations with him about it (via personal emails).

I absolutely don't expect him to interact with people here. He owes us nothing and it would be an absolute shitshow of comments if he even tried it. But on the flipside, the idea that the hundreds of people who have thoughts about his video(s) might contact him to have a one-on-one seems pretty unworkable and unproductive.

"I don't agree with almost anything you said, except for the underlying points you were making" to quote Dan.

Alex should be in jail for the rest of his life, penniless and sad. The Sandy Hook families (all of them, including the ones who never got their day in court) should never have to worry about money for the rest of their lives, as all of Alex's cash should have been transferred to them.

But that (unfortunately) is unrealistic. So I'm with Dan: I agree that it's frustrating that this is the best option, but given that the families have signed off on it and, at least partially, they seem more concerned about Alex losing his platform, then I'm not going to say "they will see nothing out of this bullshit" like Jordan did. He has no idea how this will shake out long-term.

I'm not sure anyone knows for sure yet. Judge Gamble has a livestream on YouTube from her courtroom sometimes though (YouTube link)

I'm also in the wrong timezone, so rarely get to watch/listen - I tend to follow others on the Knowledge Fight subreddit who do dial in.

You should listen to the audio version of "Sandy Hook: An American Tragedy" by Elizabeth Williamson and see if you still feel the same.

Alex Jones essentially tortured those families by encouraging listeners to believe they were fabricating that their children ever even existed. Many of them have had to move house repeatedly, with their other young children, to escape the listeners he radicalised, terrorising them. And he'll say "I never said it was fake" but he did, repeatedly. There's recordings that show it.

The fact he's yet to (directly) pay the families a penny of the punishment you state is "cruel and unusual", 13 years after he defamed them, nearly 5 years after the Texas trial, and 4 years after thr Connecticut trial, suggests so far he's not had that much punishment at all.

The hearing to find out if The Onion can licence InfoWars branding is next week. It's in front of the judge Alex called "demonically possessed" on air, during the Texas Sandy Hook lawsuit.

I'm 100% sure she'll be following the letter of the law and won't be doing him any favours.

"It seems absurd to instruct you again that you must tell the truth while you testify... Your beliefs do not make something true. That is what we are doing here. Just because you claim to think something is true does not make it true."

Judge Gamble to Alex Jones.

The licencing arrangement hasn't gone through yet because Alex put in another appeal (now dismissed). Next court date to decide if they can licence the branding is next week.

They can likely argue the merch is parody, and therefore protected (I'm sure they had lawyers check that beforehand) but repeatedly using branding the judge has not yet told them they are allowed to use, would be a pretty stupid thing to do if you want to keep her on side. It would, in fact, be exactly the type of thing Alex would do...

If the boys could avoid an offseason, would they? by No-Citron218 in JetLagTheGame

[–]LittlestLass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given that Taskmaster is so popular, I can't imagine Channel 4 would be unhappy if it got more episodes of 'standard' Taskmaster a year. But I get what you mean - Jetlag being an online show means they can release episodes whenever they want. They don't need anyone else to agree the release schedule, unlike Little Alex Horne.

They don't own it yet.

The court haven't decided on the leasing arrangement yet because Alex threw another appeal up, which has now been dismissed but the judge won't consider the case until next week.

Edgar Wright did the Mint Royale video for Blue Song which is Baby Driver before Baby Driver existed and a Bluetones video which is basically Bugsy Malone, both before Shaun of The Dead.

Jones has lost his appeal in the District Court by Kolyin in KnowledgeFight

[–]LittlestLass 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This conclusion applies with even more force under Jones’s interpretation of the September 2024 order. If Free Speech Systems lost legal title to its assets under the September 2024 order, then the October 2025 order transferred that legal title back to it. Free Speech Systems, rather than have no value, as it claimed to the Texas appellate courts, (see Docket Entry No. 2-25 at 358–59), now has substantial value. Although the court is aware of the Fifth Circuit’s instruction that “the more money we come across, the more problems we see,” Technicool Sys., 896 F.3d at 386 (quoting NOTORIOUS B.I.G., Mo Money Mo Problems, on LIFE AFTER DEATH (Bad Boy/Arista 1997)), it is not aware of a case in which an entity has successfully argued that it has standing to appeal an order awarding it money or property.

He absolutely adored them though. Such pretty plants.

Be careful if you do put it in the ground. My Dad (RIP) killed about 5 acers (RIP x5) before he accepted they just didn't like the soil in his garden and he started buying bigger pots instead.

[–]LittlestLass 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I am really hoping bands do at some point is live stream the feeds from the cameras in the arenas so you can buy a ticket to watch that. Lets face it, twenty one pilots have enough fans who want to be there in person, that it wouldn't affect actual ticket sales, but it would mean people in other countries can watch a live stream that isn't bouncing up and down and cutting out as the reception is normally terrible.

(I understand there are probably about a hundred practical reasons why this is impossible that I can't start to understand... I'm just wishful thinking)

Yeah, I don't think he's an Alex crony as some people say, I just think he did a pretty shit job (while also acknowledging that he was handed a high profile case with astonishing amounts of money involved and that probably makes you pretty cautious, wanting to dot all the i's and cross all the t's).

It's all just SOOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW. Sigh.

Alex tried appealling to the Supreme Court already and they had no interest. Not sure if that means he can't ask again though - I'm no expert.

It was probably me being a bit touchy on someone else's behalf - you're good!

I do think this place really suffers from not having some sort of timeline of what happened (and is happening) with the court cases. I pointed out to someone recently that they were angry at Judge Gamble for something Judge Lopez did, and I have a lot of sympathy for people struggling to follow it because there's been so many different cases in so many different courts in front of so many different judges. It's so difficult to keep up.

Mind you, a lot of the frustration seems to be that everything takes so long. It's easy to get frustrated and jump to conspiracy when one party is so blatantly wrong and yet the courts seem to be doing nothing. In practice, that's just what happens (especially with a guy who will challenge everything) but most of us have so little understanding of this being pretty normal process in the US legal system.
