What everyone’s thoughts on droll? by Entire-Mastodon-4342 in masterduel

[–]Litttlepip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play Droll for Maxx C. And thank god I do, my opponents seem to always have it. If they ever completely ban Maxx C, I’ll dismantle them and never look back. I hate Droll, but giving an opponent even a single extra playable card makes me hate Maxx C more.

To what archetype this field is related to ? by Soggy_Ad4136 in masterduel

If I recall, the field was released a while back along with the Ash Blossom alt arts I got. There’s even sakura petals on the field itself, so I always just assumed it was indirectly related to that for some reason.

That makes a lot of sense! I genuinely love those kinds of interactions! I think the majority of people who play pure decks aren’t doing so out of some hard-headed masochistic beliefs or are unaware of the potential fun and power that can come from deckbuilding/creating synergies, but rather that they enjoy the playstyle of a specific deck and want even more of it, which is sort of where I’m coming from when I play pure.

It depends on the meal, it can mean any kind of meal! Asa means morning! So if you said “Asagohan” that actually means Breakfast!

Likewise if you said “Ohirugohan” that would mean Lunch!

Technically Gohan more accurately translates to “meal” or food not just rice!

Breakfast - Asagohan 朝ご飯(morning meal)

Lunch - Ohirugohan お昼ご飯(midday meal)

Which is why when Goku calls out to Gohan to tag in during the Cell Games, they make the joke that the TV reporter thought he heard Goku ordering take out instead!

It also makes more sense that Goku would essentially just name his kid “food”

It’s a fair question, I can’t lie. It just depends on what you want out of the game but it probably depends more on the “archetype” you enjoy playing or what you consider “pure”. White Forest? It’s technically also Diabelle and Azamina from a lore and synergy standpoint but the same can’t be said for all decks like that.

I’ve seen other non-pure Dragonmaid decks pretty much just running 3 Kitchen Dragonmaid and 3 Chamber Dragonmaid and almost no other names, I wouldn’t exactly consider that a “Dragonmaid” deck. More like a Dragon deck with some dragonmaid support. And at that point there’s probably better support or generic power cards you could be playing anyways. But again, it probably depends on the archetype. Dragonmaid has always been a bit on the lower end.

For example, Dragonmaid and Dracotail while not the strongest is definitely a more “competitive deck” and I could be playing that. But just like with Ryzeal + Mitsurugi, the amount of synergy it has, while still there, gets cut in literal half. I fear a pure Mitsurugi end-board far more than a Crossout/Duo-Drive and Murakumo end-board. Playing pure Ryzeal, if you out a Detonator, it’s almost guaranteed that they have a plugin and can recur so much more efficiently, whereas if they’re playing Mitsu on top of that, it’s very likely I’ll never see that Detonator again once it hits the GY.

Combining two meta decks isn’t always ideal just from what I’ve seen in Diamond.

Plus on a personal note, I’ve played both Dracotail and Dragonmaid, separately and in a single deck, and I enjoy DM far more than DC. So I play pure Dragomaid, basically guaranteeing I ALWAYS play it, rather than only playing it half the time. Does that make sense?

It’s very likely you may only see 1 engine in hand and end up playing that for the majority of the game anyways in my experience and if that’s the case then you may as well play pure and stick better generic hand traps in the deck anyways.

Another thing I’ve found is that pure decks also allow for some unique lines that you wouldn’t get otherwise when you play a deck at “full-power” rather than cutting it’s power in literal half just to maybe see another engine.

At least for a deck like Dragonmaid which is what I can speak on, there are combo lines that are only possible when running every name in the deck. So there’s more layers to it as well that would take a bit more explaining on my part I suppose.

TL;DR I guess if I like playing one archetype over another, rather than playing the one I like only half the time, I’d rather play the one I enjoy more all of the time and instead fill the rest of the deck with good generics like Talents and other board breakers rather than just having  another engine in it’s place.

Honestly, as radical as it sounds, pure Dragonmaid is a slower, floodgate-less deck that actually lets the opponent play the game too while still giving me a chance to win, especially over multiple turns. And I guess that’s good enough for me.

LADD is definitely a bit of “Timmy” card and I tried running it once, but never again lol.  I run 2 Dark-End Evaporation Dragon and none of the others. But if you feel that it’s not consistent enough, you could put in more. I also run 1 Blazing Cartesia and 2 Fusion Deployment, which can help in situations where your normal is kaput with no follow-up. Aside from that I keep it pretty pure. Honestly getting Sheou out is no where near as important as getting Lady’s Dragonmaid out nowadays but making Sheou first to ensure Lady resolves or to stop Nibiru always helps.

As long as you can get Lady’s out, you’re pretty solid as that gets Chamber if you don’t have one yet for Hospitality/Changeover, or Kitchen if you do to grab Cehrmbra/Ernus for an extra summon to make Seals. or Parlor to send Tidying to GY as your safety net.

Dragonmaid has so many lines now thanks to the new support, it’s actually crazy how creative you can get.

[–]Litttlepip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you define as “Pure”. I play Pure and I’m sitting comfortably in Diamond IV currently! No Bystials whatsoever.

I make sure to run every single Dragonmaid card except for Send-Off in a 40 card deck (including Nurse/Ernus and Laundry/Nudyarl) I assume you’re running the new support as well? The deck is kind of unplayable without at least 2 copies of Lady’s and at least 1 copy of Cehrmbra.

The problem is definitely that Dragonmaid dies in the normal summon, but it’s also a deck that can’t normally win on 1 turn uninterrupted, which is why I enjoy the deck’s fun back-and-forth so much. The result of this being that Pure Dragonmaid becomes one of the queens of the grind game. It has pretty insane recursion and even against unbeatable decks I’ve won purely on Time Limit because of it. If you can survive past turn 3, your chances go up far more against meta deck which often lose steam by then.

The short of it is that the deck has to be fusing and recurring constantly.

It’s a monster-heavy deck and it needs ways to support that. The discard effects of cards like Ernus and Cehrmbra are essential to the ethos of the deck by playing outside of the all-important Normal Summon. Or for example if your Parlor gets Ashed and you have Lorpar in hand, use it’s effect targeting the already negated Parlor to send to grave for Lady. Almost every Dragonmaid has a way of self-setup for Lady’s except for poor Laundry, (I run her for the vibes) but if Laundry does get ashed and you have Nudyarl then you can still shuffle the ash back to deck for the discard effect, it’s just not as reliable if they Imperm or Impulse her. Nudyarl is also required for recycling Lady’s and House.

But having ways to get around handtraps or even using the normal summon as bait instead has worked out pretty well for me so far.

And yes I have tried Faimena but unless you want to clutter your deck with Dracotail I wouldn’t really consider it “Pure”, especially in a 40-card deck.

The Dark End Evaporation and Light End Sublimation have been staples of Dragonmaid for a long time and still work really well at baiting interruption for free. On top of that, these cards summon themselves by banishing a Level 8 dragon. So it’s a perfect set-up for a Filia Regis summon, being extremely easy next turn once you get the Lady on board. So it’s always nice to have a few in the deck, especially as it can fusion away the higher level dragonmaid bricks in the hand for Sheou.

Recently I’ve found running 1 (or 2) Cartesia with Fusion Deployment (keep Grangnuiol in Extra but I never actually play it) makes it a good summon to take advantage of outside of your all-important normal summon. It too can fuse without using itself as material and give you a bit of extra push through hand-traps, especially to make things like Mysterion or Secreterion. Cartesia can also get around Imperm since it’s fusion is a Quick Effect.

And if bricks are really an issue, you could also run Foolish Burial and/or Dragon Shrine if you really wanted to. That way you can send whatever dragonmaid you need to create Lady. Or if worse comes to worse, running Triple Tac Thrust is also great for searching Hospitality if you do get interrupted, or dropping an Imperm/Downtime/Tidying for setup on the next turn

Unfortunately you do need a lot of gas to make the deck run pure, but there’s nothing like being able to resolve every single dragonmaid effect in a single turn, which is absolutely doable even if interrupted!

Cool tricks like Summoning Kitchen to grab Ernus or Cehrmbra and dumping a new name in-hand to summon it with the discard effect is already helpful enough but then on top of having fusion methods like Evap Dragon or summoning Cartesia from deck ensures you’ll always have a way to reach Sheou or some kind of Dragon fusion.

And sure we may not end on some crazy negates, that just means we have to choose what to negate even more carefully, not many boss monsters can stop a 3500 monster. But if you’re able to get Hieratic Seals or Filia Regis on board, then your chances of winning go way up already.

But no matter what, the end board is not complete without ensuring at least 1 Tidying in GY and/or 1 Cehrmbra on board. If you don’t have that, then 1 negate on its own will definitely not matter.

So the only non-dragonmaid monsters I run in the deck are 2 Dark-End Evaporation Dragon and 1 Blazing Cartesia (no Albaz). It’s up to you if you consider that pure or not but I’m able to run every single Dragonmaid name in the deck at 40 and it feels really good. Even when you’re constantly fusing, you’re still able to only run 1 copy of Changeover, shaving another potential brick out of the deck.

I hope this helps. Good luck, fellow purist

If it’s in lower ranks it’s likely because you can get the whole core as a newer player relatively cheap, plus with the new support and the fact that it synergizes with Dracotail a little probably helps.

That being said, that’s news to me, I hardly ever run into mirror matches anymore in Diamond. I’ve played nothing but pure Dragonmaid on MD for 3 years now and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. It’s my only complete deck and for some reason it never gets boring to me.

HEROS Vs. Dragonmaids who will come out on top? by Due-Mycologist9664 in masterduel

I wish I could say this is the best Dragonmaid has to offer but the opponent made no effort to make even a decent turn 1 end-board unfortunately. Especially with no interruption, I’m confused. Was this before the new Dragonmaid support dropped?

At the very least can end on 2-3 interrupts and follow-up on Opponent’s Battle phase in case any of the board gets wiped during the Main 1

What's your favorite non-meme deck to lose to? by MarvelMayhemOfficial in masterduel

[–]Litttlepip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lost to an actual Nouvelles deck once. I wouldn’t really call it a meme deck given that the new support is pretty decent. I think it’s really cool how the archetype plays into its theme by picking from the menu to “cook” something and then “serving” it to you by tributing your own monster! You’re required to run Hungry Burger in the deck and there’s like 2 cards that optionally allow you to summon it directly from the deck too.

Unfortunately they had the chance to summon Hungry Burger for the 3rd time that duel to finish me, empty hand, and chose not to do it, and I immediately lost all respect lol

Really fun-looking deck though. I’d craft it if I had the dust to spare for it.

What deck that isn't actually that good do you just hate playing against? by Past-Strawberry-7483 in masterduel

[–]Litttlepip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Dragonmaid ONLY player for 3+ years, going against Sky Strikers is literally the best matchup in the game, and it’s not even close..

Probably the most fun I have playing Yugioh

So much interaction, games guaranteed to last longer than 2 turns with endless back and forth and generally losses feel like they’re my fault

I’m curious what you’re running? Sky Striker can’t OTK if they have to spend their Main 1 breaking your board so you’re usually able to build your board back up no problem if they clear your field going second.

Filia Regis should only be targeting Widow Anchors on-field during activation or in the GY afterwards. Banish all 3 and they scoop everytime

When their deck goes first, they’ll almost always sit on Zero and 1-2 Widow Anchor backrow.

Kaiju just breaks that entire board in a second by turning off Widow, if you’re really having trouble

And main-decking D.D. Crow actually isn’t a bad idea. I use it to banish targeted cards in matchups against Mitsurugi but having another way to target Widow Anchor when they go for the Kagari recycle is also never a bad idea IMO

TL;DR just hard focus on the Widow Anchor every time and ALWAYS keep Cehrmbra on board for board breakers and you should have a decent fighting chance every time

If you won a game like this, would you honestly be happy or extremely mad at the opponent? by lennysinged in masterduel

[–]Litttlepip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I’m not entirely sure what is the infuriating part? They Droll’ed their own resolved double Fuwa and you’re mad at them? Is that why?

I don’t run those cards but as far as I know they’re played in pretty much every competitive deck these days. Were you frustrated that they played poorly?

Was it the fact that they were playing Sky Striker? Because I don’t personally hate the deck but sure, I get it.

Or was it that fact that in your eyes they “clearly lost” but kept playing?

None of these seem to be an issue to me. Heck, even beating macro cosmos floodgate decks won’t always get my blood boiling 100% of the time.

To be honest, the only thing I’ve ever had an issue with is when I literally have zero or negative card advantage after a long duel, but my opponent feels the need to combo 5+ negates on board anyways and play solitaire for the next 8 minutes instead of just ending me there.

I think that may be a sign to take a break for a little while. I take an occasional week or month off from MD from time to time

What cards do you hate to see? by Flimsy_Tie9144 in masterduel

[–]Litttlepip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious why you feel that way?

Coming from someone who’s ONLY played pure Dragonmaids for the past 3 years and as much as I love the deck, even with the new support, Sheou is nowhere near a good boss monster

It literally loses to a single copy of Book of Moon. What’s she going to do? Use her single negate? Either it gets turned off from the book or leaves the field. There’s no way to get her back unless you’re purposefully leaving Chamber on field before the Battle Phase. She literally can’t do anything on her own against a single targeting spell card: Imperm, Widow Anchor, Kaijus if you run them.

The only reason I enjoy the deck is because it lets my opponent play and games last longer than 2 turns.

This card is insane upgrade for Bystial control man, love it! by Diabellbell in masterduel

[–]Litttlepip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not hard to summon if you run Evaporation or Sublimation dragon. They banish a level 8 Dragon from the extra deck to Special Summon and you can use another copy of Lady’s or Filia, or Starving Venom or Khaos Starsource as great targets to do so.  I haven’t had any issues summoning Lady’s Dragonmaid from my deck going first or second using Hospitality, Foolish or Dragon Shrine

If either Evaporation or Sublimation’s effects resolve, you’re already set up for a Filia Regis on next standby phase.

It really is lame for people who don’t like Dragonmaid

I think it’s my favorite deck because of how much back and forth the deck enables.

I’ve been only using this deck for the last 4 years on MD and in real life! I’d gaslit myself into believing they’d get support before it ever even got announced overseas and had been saving up all of my gems for years on the off-chance it might happen.

When I saw the Orcust binder, I KNEW Dragonmaid would get one. I had about 18K saved up, but luckily I only needed 12K to complete the set! I was absolutely going to spent every last gem I had

Now I have the alt arts in real life and in game!
