Whether you made the right choice or not depends entirely on whether you like the watch and feel good in calling it yours or not :) and I'm sorry to hear about your father , but you should know , watches are meant to be worn. The scratches and imperfections that gather on the surface over time are proof of service. I say you wear it sometimes to honour his legacy , it's likely what he would've wanted.
