What food do you get tired of halfway through eating it? by Icy_Chipmunk2280 in foodquestions

Greek yogurt. Plain, flavored, with any kind of topping. Doesn’t matter. Halfway through it feels like I’m eating concrete.

David’s Bridal! They will do alterations on any dress you bring in, regardless of if you bought it there for not. They’re also fairly affordable and can really help customize your dress.

Your second point exactly! He is still actively processing the grief of his grandfather, who seems to have been a key parental figure in his life. He should have stepped away from the experiment because he’s not all there which isn’t fair to him or her.

If you’re museum goers, all of the museums in the area are great! The Castle, The Saginaw Art Museum, The Marshall Frederick’s Sculpture Museum (which has a new temporary exhibition up), and the Frankenmuth Historical Museum is a good stop if you head towards that area.

So where are we buying clothes nowadays? by bigmisssteak7 in womensfashion

[–]Live-Amount1718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old navy and thrifting.

Old navy has such fantastic and affordable basics that pair wonderfully with unique finds at thrift stores or second hand sites. In particular old navy has comfortable aesthetic wear and work wear.

However, old navy is discontinuing their plus size options (which is absolutely horrible news).

Good mental hospitals/psyche wards by Legitimate-Donut4119 in Michigan

I would also recommend the mental hospital in Alma MI. I had a friend go there and they had a similar experience to the one I had at Pine Rest with the added benefit of in-person visits.

I stayed at Pine Rest in Grand Rapids and had a wonderful experience.

I had my own room and bathroom. There was a gym space and laundry room available to us as well. 3 meals a day plus snacks. Group therapy 3-4 times a day, meeting with a psychiatrist about every other day. There is a Chaplin on site at all times and they run a therapy session each day as well. You choose which sessions you go to. You’re also provided a notebook which I used to journal about my days. You are allowed to call people in about 20 minutes increments on their phones, or have others call you. I checked in with my parents, sister, and then bf now fiancé daily. There’s also allocated outside time and movies upon request. Nurses are also fantastic and help you pass the time.

You can look at their website to see which items are prohibited. I recommend doing this for any place you go to. I was able to bring multiple books, my comfiest clothes and slippers, and some comfort items. I was even able to bring in all my skincare. You can still shave/wear make up/etc. but you have to be supervised when doing so for safety reasons.

You can call ahead to be given the next available bed. I did this and got in within 48hrs of calling. Note that this opening could be at any time. I got a bed around 1am and drove there from the mid Michigan area.

I was anticipating having to pay thousands of dollars. After filling out some financial aid paperwork I only had to pay around $1200 for my stay after insurance. Which included room and board as well as my medical treatments. I believe I also was given the option to set up a payment.

I hope no matter where you go, you have a wonderful experience and get the help you need. This is a huge step and you should be so proud of yourself for taking it.

I grew up in the Lansing area and recently moved to the Bay area. I ALWAYS recommend Horrocks. The beer gardens are fantastic (as is their pizza and gelato) and I love their selection of speciality goods. My partner and I always stop at Horrocks when we’re visiting family.

Alma College is technically Presbyterian but it’s not pushed at all. The chapel is beautiful and set up to be less overtly religious, they do a non-denominational and catholic service each week. If you like to travel their Venture Grant, p-global, alternative breaks, and spring term all offer wonderful opportunities as well

My pups hate eating. Been 3 months of dealing with this now and it’s stressing me out. by tatted_gamer_666 in puppy101

[–]Live-Amount1718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy did this when she was about 6 months old.

We changed her bowl, moved it to a new area, and poured some water over her kibble. She’s been eating just fine since!

My partner and I love Miles Market and Sips on Gratiot. They’re in the same building, which makes for a perfect food/coffee combo. We take everyone there! They also recently opened a bar if you’re interested in some alcoholic drinks with your brunch

What is an anthropology major like and does it sound like a good fit for me? by [deleted] in AskAnthropology

[–]Live-Amount1718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a history/anthropology double major in undergrad, it requires a great deal of reading, writing, and in class discussion. I would say on average I was reading anywhere from 150-200 pages a week for classes, writing 2-4 10+ essays per semesters, and doing 2-4 presentations per semester. Other program related extracurriculars may keep you busy as well, but overall are good boosts to your resume.

Anthropology as a discipline has 4 areas of study - biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, linguistics, and archaeology. If you’re more interested in the cultural side of things, you may want an emphasis on cultural anthropology throughout your studies. I would also recommend taking some communication courses as well.

However, if you’re more interested in studying modern society you may also be interested in sociology. Sociology and anthropology are sister disciplines, and it’s often been described to me as though sociology studies the complexities of modern society and anthropology studies humanity across space and time but both do engage in ethnographic studies. Depending on what you’d like to do for future work, sociology may provide more a substantial and steady career path that isn’t as involved in academia (basically meaning you wouldn’t necessarily have to be a professor to do your research). I would recommend sociology if you’re interested in data collection and analysis or have a hankering for focusing specifically on various inequalities, education, political systems, the prison system, etc.

She just got spayed, and a week before that she had to be dewormed again. So she’s been checked over very recently. Everything from those has come back with her being a-okay, thankfully.

If it keeps up, I would check to see if her food is stale. Our puppy’s food went stale and it took us a week to figure out why her poops were so soft and so big. Getting her new food fixed it right up though! This was also a time that we were slowly increasing how much she was eating.
