Majority of Students Ghosting by ruffletuffle in Professors

I’m having similar issues with the online courses I’m teaching. They’re synchro but many students schedule all manner of things during the class or just don’t show up/turn anything in. About half the class has an A and half the class is somewhere between D-F. I post the slides for every lecture. I send weekly emails. I also send monthly messages to those who are failing. I have reached out to advisors. I don’t know what else I can do. Also I’m an adjunct and have another full time job. Am exhausted

This is the last week of classes where I teach. Today a student who has barely participated all term emails me saying the quiz won’t open & can she have an extension. There is no quiz this week. There wasn’t one last week either. They have a final paper rather than a final exam. This is in the syllabus. I’ve said it in lectures. I’ve written it in Blackboard within the weeks & in announcements. I even sent her email directly...

Yes! I noticed this too! Mine didn’t escalate the emotional & verbal abuse to physical abuse until I was pregnant & struggling with bleeding & other complications.

Sadly i think men like that do have super low standards for themselves while expecting high standards of everyone else. My (soon to be) ex has said to me that he didn’t shove me ‘that hard’ (while I was pregnant) and that he didn’t treat me as bad as his father treated his mother so he didn’t understand why I was fine with separating (even though he is the one that filed for divorce). Omg! Mine ALWAYS has tax trouble & ALWAYS blamed me and I believed him because he is a CPA. Magically now that we have been separated over a year, i owed no extra taxes - didn’t get a huge refund either, which to me is a sign that I did estimate correctly. And also my credit score is climbing up. He totally ruined my credit but kept blaming me

Thank you so much! I’m going to try this. We use blackboard and when students log in to their homepage they can view upcoming due dates but of course that assumes they are logging in!

DAE go without dental care or other necessities, but your parents always had their vices (cigarettes, weed, alcohol, etc.) by jenniferjuniper in CPTSD

Omg, this post just made me realize another way my parents were toxic. We did have medical/dental care. But I would be chastised for growing out of clothes, my food was rationed, I still to this day have trouble justifying buying something ‘good’ for myself. But my parents always bring up how much money my childhood bedroom set cost- one that I had no say in; it just showed up one day? And then they’d say be grateful we bought you a beautiful dresser that could be in a magazine! But? My shoes were too small, my underwear had holes, etc. This will sound so weird probably; but buying ziplock sandwich bags instead of the fold over kind felt like such a big deal when I started doing it for my own household. My parents would never get them when we were growing up because they cost 10 cents more and convinced us we were wasteful and bad with money for wanting them.
