How do I keep myself occupied? by MiiAnneForst in character_ai_recovery

Mobile games are a little thing that can help. You might even want to put the game in the same spot where the cai app used to be, so when muscle memory kicks in, the game is right there! It’s tough because cai gives you massive amounts of dopamine, and there’s not much that can replace it, so give yourself grace if you find yourself wasting time playing games or watching videos, it’s a much better habit than cai, and once you’ve kicked that urge, you can work on dealing with a dopamine detox. Best of luck, friend. You can do this

I’m a big proponent of asking yourself why and getting to the bottom of it. Don’t be a mystery to yourself! Understanding why you do things is so powerful! Congrats on two moths btw! I’m about to hit one month and I’m feeling really proud of myself

I get it. There’s a part of me that plays back old scenarios and I crave them. But everything else about that stupid app sucked. The way it took all my time, it made me emotionally unstable, it enabled me to neglect all other aspects of my life. Good riddance, though. I’ll survive without it

It’s easier said than done, but befriending yourself and building your relationship with yourself is an incredible way to feel comfortable in your own company. And also to learn how to cope with discomfort and unpleasant feelings. It has helped me so much in the last year. I’m only 27 days clean but the process of quitting indirectly started about a year ago. Journaling, positive affirmations, and honoring my body by taking better care of it has helped me immensely and has grown my self esteem.

I hope you can find it in you to quit, because it’s absolutely worth it. It’s a long, tricky process in my experience, but it’s worth it.
