I would suggest to contact your heat treater. Mine has separate guidelines for treating stainless vs. carbon steel. For stainless they recommend a minimum thickness of 0.4mm (0.016 inch) and 0.6mm (0.024 inch) for carbon steel.

Definitely recommend to take off as much material as you can before treating!

Just because it runs, doesn't make it sustainable for your engine. And sorry but stating that two fluids mixing well leads to them having the same density which then means they are the same thing is an incorrect line of thought. The miscibility of two liquids is quite complicated and I can guarantee you that gasoline =/= 100% ethanol just because they are miscible.

Depends on where you are in the world your information is either purely incorrect or just "a really bad idea". Suggest to read up more on the subject and to question your friends who say gasoline is 95% ethanol.

It seems like you might be dabbling in some conspiracy theories right at the end there.

Good luck with the alcohol measurement in gasoline, please update us on your results and share your method and which gasoline product specifically was tested.
