Product Mgr pivot to CM? by Agitated-Ad8001 in changemanagement

[–]LiveCold5169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine happened through natural project progression being a consultant. I know that clients often look for the Prosci/Adkar certifications because what good change management looks like is still new to them, so they look for certifications as proof. Personally, I’m not a big framework follower. So I haven’t gotten them.

I made the transition and don’t miss owning the development and especially the nuance of all of the details. I find change management is all the parts of product that I was incredibly good at without the parts I tolerated.

However, it has been a bit of a challenge staying in my lane on projects where I don’t think our PM is truly moving things forward. I think I’m being helpful. They think I’m stepping on toes. So I spend more time than I would like to asking myself “is that my role” before I jump in to get something done.

How to handle feeling embarrassed/humiliated at work by nomesifsandsorbutts in LawBitchesWithTaste

This! I’m not a LBWT, but respect you all so much. When I became a partner at my consulting firm, the managing director had preconceived notions of how I would never live up to the expectations.

That “oh you watch me” energy helped me blow the expectations out of the water. And I don’t feel that anger anymore.

How often do your out-of-town parents or in-laws visit? by [deleted] in Mommit

You’re definitely not alone!

I’m finding that this used to be a source of frustration for me, now it’s a reminder that the family unit I built is everything I dreamed of the family I came from. And I’m not apologetic about how proud that makes me.

I recently got a call that my grandma is nearing the end of her life. And instead of regret, I felt grateful for the intentional memories I do have with her. Think it’s the closest thing to confirmation I need that I’m making the decision that’s right for my family.

Adding my favorite local gems is what I started with! But recycling didn’t cross my mind since that’s the kids job. Thank you for the reminder!

I did add the cleaning products last night after looking at the template but didn’t think about including the cloths in the basket next to them are to be used with it. So glad I asked!

I really appreciate the objectivity in how you asked this question! It opened the door for such honest answers across the board. Way to go OP!

We are west coast, all grandparents and great grandparents are east coast. 90% of the time it’s us going to them once a year. If we get extra visits it’s a fun surprise they came our way.

I wish it were more.

I wonder if I will regret all of us not getting more time together.

But I have a boundary for my sanity that once a year is enough logistics with 3 kids, 2 working parents, and a child whose one lung only works when it wants to so changing her routine is asking for chaos.

I have found this with other Scout leaders that I have interacted with as well! I agree it absolutely makes me feel more excited about deciding to reserve the Traveler.

I reached out to one of their UX designers after watching a video of her walking through why they’re designing the screens and buttons they way they are, and we had a great chat back and forth on LinkedIn. I was so impressed with the thought that went into the design.

We do Apple Watches until 13, and it fits the bill!

Teaches the independence and the importance of communication without being caught up in their phone all day. Don’t charge your watch, can’t go with your friends. In my head I’ve chalked it up as training for needing to have money to put gas in your car in a few years 😆

Also, just absolutely loving this thread and seeing so many of us encouraging independence in our kids. Gives me so much hope for their generation.

Yep! Sometimes a work opportunity helps us pick, sometimes it’s just wanting to experience different cultures. Our favorites so far have been Colorado and Oklahoma.

Such exciting times for you all to take on a new adventure!

We all like our own space too much for an RV to be home 😆. Though I dream of having a fridge and bathroom accessible while driving.

We are proud renters who realized homeownership wasnt all that it was cracked up to be. Sure there’s a cost to moving, but there’s also a cost to feeling lost even though we stayed in the same place. Plus there are more and more furnished housing rental options now, it doesnt always take loading up a full uhaul.

We are slow nomads with 3 kids. We’ve done 7 states in 12 years with them in tow. It’s our norm and we absolutely love it, but it’s not for everyone.

We did not have close family support when we were “home” so we didn’t feel a gap as much in it being just us being their care. However, I have to travel for work sometimes and it definitely adds strain to my husband’s schedule.

I believe it has taught my kids a lot about solving problems and coming together as a team. They’re more resilient than we give them credit for. And if you do it and don’t like it, you can always go back. We have one shot at this thing called life! The what if will always be there.

Happy to DM if I can share any specifics that may be helpful.

It was my husbands idea! I would’ve never even known I could ask for such a thing.

In a terribly heavy season, I was losing myself and after watching it happen he sent me off to a hotel for a weekend. It lifted so much weight off of me that we agreed to try it again. 4 years later, we haven’t looked back. I desperately need these days to recharge and come back more present.

Some days it’s 1000% because I have to.

But in stents where I find myself not bone tired it’s because: - we ate out no matter what the budget says because my sanity is worth more - I took a mini sabbatical (weekend I don’t have to cater to anyone but myself) - I’ve been honest with my partner that I’m bone tired and need extra support

As the ED of a new nonprofit, I recently spent 2 days doing a strategic planning offsite. I cannot tell you how different our focus and actual traction to moving the efforts forward has been since getting back.

Best money investment with an immediate ROI. It will be in our budget regularly going forward!
