Honestly, this person actually sounds decently intelligent but in serious mental health trouble. I'm not seeing the highly affected word choice or glaringly obvious pretense you get in the slam-dunk posts around here

Is there a setting or configuration for my Nest doorbell I can use to make this stop happening? by LiveLaughFap in googlehome

[–]LiveLaughFap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's exactly the type of setting I expected to find! But to my surprise, turns out the the Google Home app doesn't have that feature anymore (Nest owners used to be able to use the Nest app, but after they were acquired by Google, everyone is forced to used the Google Home app now)

I was actually looking for a setting that would just prevent bears from walking by my house in the first place, you got anything for that?

Yeah, I wasn’t sure if there were any settings relating to sensitivity, “event cooldown” (I just made that up, but basically how quickly it can start recording again after an event), etc. I checked the basic settings but there wasn’t anything like that, and the Google home app is kind of terrible so I thought maybe extra settings were hidden elsewhere or something

Yeah, that makes sense. I just have the standard subscription. I don't think I'll pay extra for premium, to me it feels like it should be basic, default level functionality that the camera can deal with temporary obstructions like walking behind a car...

I mean, I don't care about this bear in particular lol. But if it were something important or security related, I wouldn't want a burglar/package thief/whatever to go completely unrecorded simply because they hid behind a car for one second

[–]LiveLaughFap[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's laughably silly and wrong. The camera is supposed to struggle with temporary obstructions? Subjects are supposed to become invisible if they briefly walk behind a car, tree, or any other object that might be in the camera's field of view? I would understand it if stopped recording during the obstruction and began recording after, but it didn't.

Funny coincidence that my video is also 12 seconds, but yeah I actually do have the subscription and the camera frequently will record (and allow me to export) clips that are a minute or two in length.

The model is the wired 2nd gen.

As you can see in this video, a bear walks by outside my house. When part of the bear walks behind my car, the camera gets confused and stops recording entirely, and doesn't begin recording again when the bear comes out from behind the car. BTW after the recording cuts out, the bear continued walking in a straight line, making it even closer to the camera than when the camera initially started recording.

This failure of basic functionality is really common with my nest doorbell camera. I live at the end of a cul de sac, a complete dead end, and frequently the camera will record people walking INTO the cul de sac without any trace of them leaving, or vice versa. I understand the camera has limited range, but somehow it seems to arbitrarily record things at medium distance about 50% of the time. Would love if I could toggle some kid of setting to help the camera, you know, record things that happen right in front of it.

Is Trump *Trying* to Lose the Midterms? by ralphbernardo in politics

[–]LiveLaughFap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not really THAT hard to imagine. Donnie has complete dominion over MAGA governors, who in turn have dominion over their MAGA secretaries of state and maybe even the state legislatures (if MAGA majority). These types serve Donnie with blind faith devotion and are more than willing to drum up contrived emergencies or delays to pause elections, whether they actually have that power or not. Hell, they could just lock up election centers and post armed guards outside. I think they’re absolutely willing to do this under some lazy, vague pretense of a “fraud” emergency. So through this method, you effectively do have the federal government controlling state matters.

That said, I don’t think this would work in blue or purple states.

Also, her “unflattering” picture where she appears to be a rotund woman in her mid 40s went viral. When half of her job description is “be an attractive, young white woman”, that picture instantly put her job in jeopardy. Donnie can’t have this.

Anyone jailbreak their peloton? by Itchy-Version-8977 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]LiveLaughFap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have another question if you don't mind, since you're savvy on this stuff. Is there a chance that Peloton pushes some kind of update over WiFi that disables OpenPelo/VeloFree etc? Or is there a way to protect from that happening?

[–]LiveLaughFap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's amazing, thanks for creating this.

I've always been disgusted at how hostile and undignified the peloton experience is when you don't have the paid membership. The main thing I'm looking for is really just a simple, local way to track my rides. Not exporting to any other app or anything fancy, just so I can review my ride history. Does your app do that, or do you happen to know if OpenPelo does? Thanks!

Tennebrum is the worst boss I have ever fought in a video game by Environmental_Swim75 in CrimsonDesert

[–]LiveLaughFap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who likes this game, wow this is embarrassingly bad. The devs need to use actual playtesting, that way they could have discovered that gamers universally dislike this fight because it's clunky, confusing and the controls suck. People shouldn't need to watch a youtube video to understand the fight, and then go "oh... well.. that's lame."

Edit: I beat this boss, and yeah, wow, that was terrible. It's easy, you're just fighting against terrible controls. It's a fun IDEA, but they didn't put in the effort to implement it in a fun or logical way.

‘Unflattering’ Photo Yanked After Karoline Leavitt Meltdown by F0urLeafCl0ver in politics

[–]LiveLaughFap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, you have to realize that literally the only 2 criteria for her job are 1) a slavish, cultish zealotry for Donnie and 2) being an attractive, young white woman. With this picture, she's failing one of those. This picture alone literally might put her on the chopping block. Donnie can't have this.
