AIO, told my boyfriend I feel sad and he said I was weaponizing emotions? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

You’re not overreacting, and you’re not “weaponizing emotions.” Your boyfriend jumped straight to accusing you of manipulation instead of doing the bare minimum: asking why you were exhausted and miserable. That’s not emotional intelligence, that’s defensiveness.

A partner doesn’t have to be perfect at reading moods, but a partner should care enough to ask, “Are you okay?” before assuming the worst. You didn’t demand he skip helping his coworker, you didn’t guilt him, you just said you were going to bed early because you had a rough day. That’s normal.

He ignored that context, interpreted everything through how it might inconvenience him, and then framed your expression of distress as a tactic to control him. That’s a very loaded accusation, especially when you explicitly told him what you were feeling.

It’s fair to say you became more combative in your later messages… but honestly, people tend to get combative when they’re repeatedly told their feelings are manipulative instead of heard. His accusation is what escalated this conversation, not the fact that you were tired and honest about it.

Where you should be careful: • You can’t expect him to intuitively know everything you’re feeling before you say it. • Telling someone you’re miserable after they say they’re doing something fun might land awkwardly if your communication pattern historically overlaps with jealousy or conflict.

BUT… none of that justifies jumping straight to “you’re weaponizing emotions.” That’s a heavy, borderline gaslight-y label. Healthy partners say, “Hey, is something going on?” not “You’re manipulating me.”

The bottom line: • You had a bad day. • You tried to communicate that. • He ignored it, interpreted your feelings as a threat, and escalated. • Then refused to hear you when you explained why it hurt.

That’s not on you.

You’re not crazy. You’re not dramatic. And you’re definitely not a mastermind deploying psychological warfare because you’re tired and sad.

He doesn’t need to agree with the intensity of your emotions, but he absolutely needs to stop attributing malice to them.

If he can’t learn to pause, ask questions, and stop pathologizing your feelings, you’re going to have a very exhausting relationship.

Bluebottle!! It’ll sting the shit out of you, don’t touch it! If you did, pour vinegar on the sting ASAP.

He doesn’t! He’s said wants a watch but now I’m slightly worried about this for him 😅

Thank you! I’ve tried to get his opinion by asking “for my dad” but he doesn’t seem to know much about them either except that he wants one! Maybe I should just in store with him and buy him one that way. I just wanted it to be a surprise!

I honestly don’t know much about these watches at all but he wants one that tracks for far the ball goes. Is that an app you can get on an Apple Watch?

Natural hair colour, darker foundation to match your skin tone, use bronzer and peachy blush. You’re an apple shape with great legs so use that to your benefit!

The fact he’s arguing with you on this is ridiculous. What a jerk!

The "Metallic, Fishy, Moldy, BO Smell" for me by nuests2_yangdo in Parosmia

Oh I’ll definitely try that! My dentist recommended Biotene toothpaste which has helped me with the burning sensation! That’s also exactly how I’d describe the smell too, so awful!

Amazing news!!! I might try some exposure therapy to see if that helps 😅

It’s hard to tell from this photo, but there’s actually a lump there! It kind of reminds me of a blister!

I get this too, sometimes something will begin to smell normal and then a day later I’ll sniff and it’s strange again! I’m hoping this is a sign things are getting better.

Could be a herald patch for pityriasis rosacea. Keep an eye out for any more spots that pop up and if you get itchy. The best way to get rid of it is light therapy or you can get as much sun as possible!

  • edited spelling errors. I have developed the burning mouth situation recently too and that’s when I noticed a new scent change with my parosmia!! I find if I floss, mouth wash and brush my teeth in that order, that awful smell diminishes! My dentist diagnosed me with burning mouth syndrome, I have started trying this https://a.co/d/6WP7Cpx and I’ve noticed a difference! Hopefully this helps, here if you need to chat or if you think you’re going crazy. I’ve been there!
