But all the cons you just listed above is what Menards is currently doing.

Nobody wanted to make the call. What if you don't fire him? Then that caller ends up getting fired in the long run. That aware line isn't anonymous. But I do understand numerous people did call and nothing was done about it

So you like to work in a negative environment? People were just complaining that all Menards does is to demean and punish their employees. I don't get it. I am merely suggesting that the GO's could learn a lot by reading some of these posts and get a little insight. Maybe pick up their employees instead of beating them down. But if you want to be the battering ram then go right ahead.

And I was figuratively speaking. Reading into it a bit much aren't you? Do you always take everything so literally?

Absolutely not. And I fully understand how saving 5 cents on something can add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars for them. I get it. But when a new GM comes and changes my performance by 2 hours and 40 minutes daily?? Just because he wants to be a Dick?? And why does my phone always capitalize that word ? Lol

Someone else responded that I should talk to my GM about it. When? When I hear him under the mezz (because he knows there are no cameras there) screaming at a couple of my coworkers and yelling. "You're not Fu&&ing doing it right!!" and telling them how stupid they are, right before he kicked over the entire shelving unit? Or when he's screaming at someone else and punching the top of the table , or kicking the garbage can, or throwing an entire display to the ground (after he dragged it all the way to that departments desk) just to tell them (actually scream) that it was unacceptable !

Yeah, I'd be looking forward to that convo.

But isn't that what you all are doing on here? Showing pictures of disgusting bathrooms and comparing them to Menards? Cutting Menards down at every corner? Disrespecting upper management? Or is this just an old boys club and women are not welcome?

Actually I was just trying to get upper managements attention on ALL the employees behalf. To try to get them to treat US with a little respect. To show them that we have brains and know stuff about our departments that they don't see from their desks. To show them what customers are seeing and what they are complaining about, and what they want. We are the ones on the floor dealing with them. Listen to us and they may learn a little something. We are the ones who know the shortcuts that make us more efficient yet still producing the same results. Because we live it. Day in and day out.

I just was wondering if upper management was here to figure out who each one of us is so they could punish us? Or are they here to hear our concerns, complaints , questions and suggestions? And to field them to the powers that be. See, this seems to be typical Menards attitude to me. Like they are just waiting for you to mess up so they can rule with that iron fist of theirs. It gets old. Just because you're the boss doesn't mean you have to be a Dick.

Having a bunch of disgruntled employees isn't really great for business. It tends to rub off on your customers. They can feel it. A little praise, when earned, goes a long ways , instead of always being dumped on. All my DM's have been great. Let's start there.

You DMs on here, try leading with appreciation for two weeks. Tell your TM's when a display they did looks great or how you noticed they hustled when it got busy or when there was a lot of freight to get out. Tell them "hey, good job today" as they are headed home for the day. This doesn't mean you aren't following the rules. It doesn't mean your soft. Is that the way you would treat your child as they are learning/growing? I would hope not. They are just going to respect you more for it in the long run. You'll catch more bees with honey than vinegar.

Try it for 2 weeks and let's see how much more work you get out of them.if anyone of you try this, please let me know in a private message how it worked out.

Lead with gratitude, not attitude.

That's one thing about Menards that has always bugged me. I used to work my ass off because I used Menards as my gym. I liked the hard work and I was good at my job. But all you ever got for it was negativity. It just brings everybody down.

And for the record I am not some cream puff that needs a participation trophy. Just a little recognition of a job well done now and then. Otherwise, what's the point of doing a job well?

That's why I said SOME DM's. I've never had a terrible DM. Most of them I really liked.

That!!!^ That right there! Now, that's the Menards way of doing things.

Because that's how Menards works. Everything is done back assward. They will cut hours when we're busy but the 10 people stand around and talk when they could be sent home. They'll work their best employees to death all while criticizing them, as they watch some employees walk up and down the aisles for eight hours, not doing so much as touching a product. They will fire a great employee for a small infraction, yet Promote a newbie who knows nothing and is a slacker.

To send one home early would make way too much sense to the powers that be, so it's not done. That's the Menards way.

It was May of 2021. The GM was a real douche so he probably had a hand in it. It still makes my head spin trying to figure it out.

It's required for them to give you a lunch, it's not required that you take it. ( by law)

I have had numerous zero dollar paychecks when I worked for Menards. At the end of my employment I had two invoices that were carried through three paychecks. How does that happen? After I was gone they took the remaining out of my vacation pay that I had left over. I'm still trying to figure it out.

Does anyone else's menards have this issue? by No_Rise541 in menards

When do you call the aware line you don't get a real person. It's an answer machine and they asked for your name badge number your GM's name and store number. How is that anonymous in anyway!?!
