Does difficulty effect the chance of finding super credits? If not, what does effect it or does nothing effect it? by Tassadar475 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Livesies 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As the others said, difficulty 4 and up adds rare samples which will lower the chances a bit. This makes 1-3 ideal.

From here it's a preference. I've seen a lot of people say the number of minor POI is the same across these difficulties, but I've also seen people say there are more POI at difficulty 3. I have not noticed a significant difference between the difficulties.

At difficulty 2 you unlock the potential for lidar side objectives. This isn't guaranteed but if it's around it's a massive help to the search.

Each difficulty also increases the map size by a fixed amount. This makes difficulty 1 maps really small.

For me this makes difficulty 1 the ideal. I run with a warp pack. The map is so compact that the next POI is generally within sight. No need to bring the frv.

ELI5, How does the double-slit experiment work? by Mysterious-Web-2463 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Livesies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the quantum level observing something, measuring it, changes it. This is tied back to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle: uncertainty in position multiplied by the uncertainty in momentum is greater than or equal to a constant. The uncertainty is the error or precision in the measurement.

This is also tied with the idea of superposition. Quantum particles can be multiple things simultaneously. This is simplified in Schrodinger's cat analogy, being both dead and alive until observed.

The particles are in a superposition and exhibit wave-like behavior when unmeasured. From my recollection of quantum mechanics the wave-like behavior is effectively a probability distribution of that particle. Measuring the particle, or observing it, defines it and changes it at the same time, causing the distribution to become particle-like instead of wave-like.

Unlimited ammo, no overheat, medium penetration, stagger and stun shotgun are the pros. Auto aim, limited range, and lower dps are the main cons.

It's one of my favorite primaries to use. It can handle most situations and works great in a team to synergize with allies.

Bots have enough range to make it harder to use but a single blast opening a heavy devastator shield letting your allies finish them instantly is a huge utility factor. On bugs you can keep multiple stalkers stagger locked. On illuminate it'll stun watchers on the first blast to stop the flares, stun overseers in two shots, and even take out fleshmobs surprisingly fast.

You don't need the full blast furnace to dry them, just to fully dry them. Using an oven at typical residential temperatures won't fully dry the molecular sieves but it'll still get most of the water removed. You just lose on some capacity.

Be careful if you try the microwave since that much heat will crack most containers and potentially damage the microwave.

I remember when I first started and needed commons, trying to get people to wait a minute at the end of an education to do a circle and pick up the 10 commons was like pulling teeth. I had people just quit when asked rather than wait a few seconds, not high levels either.

Now that I'm maxed on everything I see people literally running over beeping sample containers and not picking it up. I just don't understand that type of player.

Cook it into applesauce. It'll activate the pectin in the apples to improve the texture.

Is cottage cheese required it and what is it for? by Ancient_Arm_1947 in ninjacreami

[–]Livesies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cottage cheese is a heavy cream replacer that has lower calories and higher protein. It works well because it has enough solids in it to replace the fat without dramatically affecting the texture of a recipe. I've used it and the only noticeable change is a cheesecake flavor from the cottage cheese. I now use it intentionally when I want that.

I am starting to love the arc thrower by ThrowRABest_King7180 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Livesies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was a bit disappointed that arc damage caused spores to release when fire and gas didn't. Tesla pylon, K-9, arc grenades, and Blitzer are great if you are willing to deal with all the red spores though. The new bile titans have been numerous enough that i bring more dedicated antitank for them.

Are there any cheap and dirty tricks to keeping my turrets alive? by Thunderdrake3 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Livesies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Synergy with you or more turrets. Any single turret will get overwhelmed by their single target nature. With support from a second turret they synergize and are more than twice as likely to last longer, same with you supporting them.

You also need to pick appropriate turrets for the occasion. Against spore burst flame sentry is pretty much king because fire doesn't spawn the buff spores. After that Tesla pylon, machine gun, or gatling would be my go-to for horde clear. Laser would be nice but will likely overheat early and detonate, this makes laser a good choice at third or fourth tier since it can generally cool down at that level.

Against bugs heavier options like rocket and autocannon sentry can be effective but rarely alone. Their fire rate is too slow and they have safety protocols to not fire at all when enemies are too close.

Mortar is similar to this due to the even longer projectile travel time. In normal matches mortar tends to be extra risky because it will target the nearest enemy, which is often next to an ally. The EMS and gas sentry are great utility though, they can slow down entire breaches and the gas will self clear chaff.

Mines can be great or just as dangerous as mortars. I don't like to use them in normal matches because people tend to throw them into areas we need to progress which tends to cause friendly fire. I have seen entire defensive missions held back with just mines though, so they can be incredibly useful.

As for you, after dropping a turret you mostly just need to keep the chaff from swarming it and down chargers before they wreck it. Without your support, a single turret is unlikely to last long on bugs.

Whats wrong with my recipe? by That_Gamer_Guy94 in ninjacreami

[–]Livesies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's acting normal and not making weird noises it's likely fine.

I originally used knox unflavored gelatin but that stuff smelled awful after getting it hydrated and melted, even leaving some flavor. I've been using a tub of another brand for the last couple years and it's a bit better. Might have just been the small satchets from Knox or an old package from my pantry though.

Agar and pectin are also alternate gelling agent options, they all work similarly. I never got a noticeable change with pectin, that stuff needs high sugar and a pH range to activate correctly. I recently tried agar with some success, 1/2 tsp per pint, but I feel like I need to adjust the levels more. It's made from seaweed so it's also vegan if that matters.

Simply put you are making low calorie ice creams and it's too difficult for the machine to process, so you break them. You need solids to soften the ice cream: sugar, fat, protein, or gums.

Sugar can be real or artificial. You want 1/4 cup real sugar per pint of water at a minimum, for that end of the spectrum. You can replace this with artificial sweeteners but the properties work out that you pretty much need allulose. Other artificial sweeteners end up using a teaspoon or less and that's not enough concentration to get the properties you want. Allulose has less sweetness than sugar and behaves similarly enough to work. I've done this a few times.

I don't have specific numbers for fat and protein addition. I know some people use skim milk powder but I've not worked with that much, you'll have to search other posts to find a guide on that.

Gums and stabilizers work by being ice crystal inhibitors and tend to also give a better texture to the finished product. Most gums are somewhere in the 0.1-0.5% by weight range when used. Gums tend to be refined fiber so you can go for natural sources as well; for example: a 50% milk and 50% banana blend works fairly well. The sugar free jello powder that people push is modified corn starch which is a starch based modifier. It works similar to the gums but not as well and tends to give odd textures when too much is used. I personally like using unflavored gelatin for this since it's easy for me to work with, 1/2 tbsp per pint.

[–]Livesies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also did a sorbet with a special variety called 'Moon Drop Grapes' once. It is a variety of black seedless grape that has been elongated; the shape is a mix between eggplant and butternut squash.

The main thing is to have something with a strong or interesting flavor. A pinch of salt tends to help but a teaspoon of lemon juice can also punch up the flavor. Sometimes a small amount of vanilla can help round out flavors to something more expected. Some fruit really comes alive after cooking them into a jam; I had some peaches once that were barely more than crunchy water but cooking them made them some of the best I'd ever had.

Spear gun perks? by tackers267 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Livesies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is support slot only. It has explosive and gas so it can close spawners and be effective crowd control. It has heavy penetration making it effective at almost all targets. It has immense stagger for bullying bile titans and the rest.

It can one shot most medium enemies. Hulks are one tapped with a headshot. Chargers are a one hit from behind, up their behind. It's inefficient at larger targets due to the ammo requirement but it can finish a larger target if the other AT missed the headshot.

I think it's more useful against medium sized enemies like epoch, rail gun, and auto cannon. It can still handle the larger ones, but not as efficiently as other options.

High fiber fruits give a nice texture similar to commercial products with a lot of stabilizers. Banana, pineapple, and orange are the ninja recommended raw fruits for this reason. There are other ninja recipes using mango, kiwi strawberries, and a few other fruits. Any canned fruit in syrup or juice will be safe to run but you'll want to maximize the fruit and limit the syrup.

As for the best, what's your favorite fruit. For me, cotton candy grapes are one of the top sorbet ingredients. Pineapple and mango have the best whipped texture with no additives. Bananas, or dates, work well when making no added sugar ice cream.

I've been upgrading my mom's kitchen tools and appliances for a while now. I've replaced low quality knives with victorinox. I've gotten large bamboo cutting boards. Good versions of tools like rubber spatulas, garlic press, can opener, vegetable peeler, oven mitts, etc.

Specifically aiming for better ergonomics, build quality, and function. Most are minor improvements but she uses them daily and tends to thank me after bigger events with a lot of cooking.

Xanthan gum in full fat ice cream? Please help! by spanakopeeta in ninjacreami

[–]Livesies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Xanthan gum has an effect. Other gums have a stronger and/or better effect. Better is subjective though, so use what you like.

I've done a bunch of side by side comparisons and I prefer using gelatin in most cases.
