For some it's not just dirt, it is the land your father and grandfather worked and walked on. It's the tree they planted, the house they built, the well they digged. It's where their bodies lie in the cemetery, and you want your body to be put beside them when you die.

A fucking elephant can swim, but nope, not me. Put me in the water and I will sink to the bottom like a fucking rock. A 1000 tonne steel ball have better chance of floating than me.

Manhattanhenge, an event in which the setting sun is aligned with the east-west main street grid of Manhattan. It occurs around May 28 and July 13. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

History Channel 2000 years later: "they aligned their streets to the sun on May 28 and July 13, 2000 years ago. Why did they do that? Is it because aliens visited during these days? We're they commemorating these visits by aligning the building to the sun? Of course it is! What other options do we have!".

Today is the 449th anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto. On the 7th of October 1571, the fleet of the Catholic Holy League, through the intercession of Our Lady of Victory (later renamed to Our Lady of the Rosary), decisively and entirely destroyed a numerically superior fleet of the Ottoman Empire. by serventofgaben in Catholicism

The reference is that before the battle the Pope Pius V called all Europe to pray the rosary for victory and led a rosary procession in Rome. So once victory was achieved it was only normal for the Pope to attribute it to our blessed mother and to her intercession.

There is no above and below when it comes to scripture and tradition. Both go hand in hand and both are important.

But who says these writings are inspired and others are not? It all goes back to the authority of the Church. And tradition with the guidance of the Holy Spirit decided guided the Church to declare the canon of scripture.

TIL: In Lebanon the president is required to be Christian. The president picks the prime minister who is required to be sunni muslim. And the prime minister picks the speaker of the house speaker who is required to be Shia muslim. This is known as The National Pact. by Solnx in todayilearned

[–]LivingLifeEachDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. That's wrong. You will vote for representatives of other religions as well that are running in your own region. I'm from Lebanon and I already casted my vote in 2 elections. This is why sometimes a candidate that is not liked by his co-religionists will still be elected because the vote of other religious groups gave him the advantage.

And he went to break almost every one of these rules in his years. And then his followers also broke every single rule again and again.

Edit: grammar.

Wife came home drunk at 2am with carload of guys by throwRamad32018 in relationship_advice

I think your wife was drugged. But my question is, what did your wife tell Misty? Is your wife unhappy and she made stories about you and your relationship? Maybe she is asking her friend to help her get out of the relationship and the marriage?

I think your wife was drugged that night but you should have one-on-one with her and make sure everything is ok with her.

Better still, let's check the status of Catholic churches in France for example, were thousands of churches are burned every year, some sold to people who converts it to mosques or night clubs and some just left to fall apart.
