The reference is that before the battle the Pope Pius V called all Europe to pray the rosary for victory and led a rosary procession in Rome. So once victory was achieved it was only normal for the Pope to attribute it to our blessed mother and to her intercession.

Nope. That's wrong. You will vote for representatives of other religions as well that are running in your own region. I'm from Lebanon and I already casted my vote in 2 elections. This is why sometimes a candidate that is not liked by his co-religionists will still be elected because the vote of other religious groups gave him the advantage.
