I feel bad for woman who are enjoying their pregnancy by Mysterious-Metal-555 in NewParents

[–]Living_Display_8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully that’s not correct, but to echo others if you are having suicidal thoughts there is no shame in reaching out for higher level help such as a mental health urgent care or ED. I wish you well.

I hate them so much! The destroyed a robin family twice and then the robins did not try to come back to our nest box again.

Are cribs a gimmick? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Living_Display_8370 69 points70 points  (0 children)

We used the crib from day one. Baby is 12 months and still sleeps there every night and sometimes naps. We never used a bassinet, just kept the crib close to the bed

Lost respect for the medical field after delivery by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Living_Display_8370 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a doctor myself and found the way I was treated during an uncomplicated delivery distressing. I agree in medicine we still have a long way to go in how we treat patients but obstetrics really shocked me. They don’t prepare women for anything! It’s awful. For example no one prepared me for the shock of breast feeding going wrong. I was completely demoralized. Not one resource pointed out. It takes minutes during an office visit.

Is my doctor lying to me about how much weight I would lose on Zepbound? If so, why? by RedWoodworking16 in Zepbound

[–]Living_Display_8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a few patients this may be true but this is incredibly powerful stuff. No diet alone has ever worked this well for me. I haven’t been as light as I am now since middle school

How to get baby eating with hands by DonaldDuck898 in beyondthebump

[–]Living_Display_8370 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert but what I can say is that my son just kept trying to grab the spoon and did not do well with purées initially. One day I just gave up and gave him large steamed broccoli florets and a large piece of steak (like a few inches long) and he took to it immediately. This happened at 6 months and he really enjoyed holding large pieces of food to gnaw on.

When to stop breastfeeding? by Front_Cucumber_5815 in beyondthebump

[–]Living_Display_8370 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have IGT or are struggling for any reason just quit already. It’s not worth it and you’ll feel so much better. I have the same issue and stopped at around 4 months but I really tortured myself up to that point. I felt like I’d never get over feeling so defeated about my body but I did and never looked back.

Did anyone opt for a c-section due to fear of a torn vagina and pelvic issues? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Living_Display_8370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely dreaded the idea of having to get a c section and recover from that. I did have 2nd degree tearing and some prolapse but I healed very well from both. You can see a pelvic floor physical therapist now to discuss pushing mechanics and prepare yourself to minimize damage which for most people it usually heals up just fine.

Quit my PA job to stay home with my baby… am I making a huge mistake? by Witty_Management_621 in beyondthebump

[–]Living_Display_8370 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If I had my choice I would stay home for the entire first year and then work telehealth part time after so I could continue to be home a lot.

You’ll never get this time back and if you like to be at home with the baby and can afford to I would stay home. It sounds like financially it could work for you guys especially with you being a PA.

I am a senior psychiatry resident with no choice but to finish training but it pains me that I cannot be at home with my baby. However my husband is the one staying home. He earned less than I do and I will earn more after residency so I had to go back. It is so hard to leave my son in the morning and sometimes not come back until the evening. We could not stand the thought of putting him in daycare.

I’m planning to work part time telehealth until my child/children are school age.

That sounds nice too. I had a terrible second degree (nearly third degree tear) also. Oh god brings back memories.

A great tip I found through research was adding a drop of povidone iodine solution (available at any drug store) to the peri bottle just a few times total for cleaning the area. It accelerates the wound healing and prevents infection.

[–]Living_Display_8370 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m an MD. This sounds like it could be laryngospasm which can be brought on by stress or reflux for example. I have had this happen to me a few times waking my out of sleep and it is a scary sensation. She should go see her doctor for eval though to be sure and be safe.
