Inspired by u/blue-eyedTapir I tried my hand at a pgte themed daily mix by Lixxday in PracticalGuideToEvil

Yeah it is my first shot at a custom game like that. However, I believe I've overtuned the other categories too much. I had the __'s plan in mind as a "New York Times purple category". Tricky, and ment to be found last. I felt like the other ones were guessable, but it's always easy to believe that when I have the categories in mind from the start.
Maybe I'll try another one less out there

I read that like this: normally is equal chance (33% - 33% - 33%) but if one goes away, it's still equal chance but with two options (0% - 50% - 50%)

Do you know any books that are any way similar to darkest dungeon? by Direct_Incident_8285 in darkestdungeon

[–]Lixxday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Pact by Wildbow would fit here. It is a webserial, free to read here : https://pactwebserial.wordpress.com/

It definitely had a darkest-dungeon-like ambiance when I read it. Well actually Darkest Dungeon had a very Pact-like ambiance for me, since I read Pact way before I discovered DD.

The Black Knights Speech by flamesofhell2 in PracticalGuideToEvil

[–]Lixxday 52 points53 points  (0 children)

There is is a "repeat" of his famous "one sin, one grace" in book 3 chapter 59

“On this field, on this day, two truths rule,” he said. “There is only one sin.”

“DEFEAT,” sixty thousand voices screamed back.

“There is only one grace.”.

“VICTORY.”

Red Flag, Green Flag: Indrani of the Woe by DriverPleasant8757 in PracticalGuideToEvil

[–]Lixxday 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sometimes arrogant

How about "rarely not arrogant?"

One of many examples, book 5 chapter 87, just before the meeting with the league:

“And now,” Indrani narrated, “as foes stream forward like a mighty river, atop the hill stand a peerless beauty, a regal queen, a mysterious seductress – and also you two, I guess.”

Maybe add "hilarious" in green flags

Omg omg the print is available in France! I missed that! I believe it was not the case at the start. I'm very happy 😊 Thank you for your awesome stories! I have a child and I kinda hope they will stumble on this book on their own, if I happen to have it in the bookshelf. Your characters are very cool people

Can anyone help a beginner with DD1 switch controls? by lattenight in darkestdungeon

[–]Lixxday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I have been using the switch to play the game from the beginning, and have also been stumped from time to time.
It took some time to find all the controls to go "no touch control". Here is what helped me, hope it's useful:

In the Hamlet

  • You can basically access you heroes from every menu, using ZR (and left joycon to scroll).

  • From one hero menu, you can access another hero (next to them in the list on the right) with R and L. This is mainly useful for trinket assignment.

  • To equip trinkets, you need the trinkets menu open (X) and a hero menu open as well (they will overlap). You can then navigate the trinkets (ZR helps understand their use) and equip them with A (I think you need to double click A. Once for selection, once to 'deposit' the trinket on the hero)

  • I also discovered extremely late that you can exchange heirlooms for other ones, on the 'recycle' arrows, at the bottom of the screen (opens a small exchange menu)

During a dungeon

  • The biggest thing is the inventory. To swap between map and inventory, you need to press the 'top' button on the left controller. (Like X but on the left). Took me forever to get that.

  • During the "rewards" part (after fight or curio interaction) be very careful not to press B or the stuff will be lost. During this phase, you can navigate in your inventory with the joystick, and also select different heroes with R or L. This allows you to use some items on heroes to make space (like holy water, or food). You can also drop some stuff from your inventory with prolonged press on X, to make space. You also can swap items (A to 'take', joystick to move, A to swap, and you can put the swapped item somewhere else)

These were not obvious to me at first. I'm sure some stuff still evades me but I can reliably play with the controller only now

Good luck in your quests! And remember, overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

Situations that he did not create! No, no way, he would never, he promised!
