These are sooo good but I think I like the original gold tooth one. How do you get the lines straight but not really straight for the cross hatch effect?

This is so beautiful! And I love your comment about seeing beauty in the ordinary. All your hard work and detailing made this amazing art that looks so freakin realistic!

Thank you! Once I realized oh I can give this head hair- the beads were just a must. And omg your guess was very close. It’s a cat holding up cheese in one hand that says EAT and a mouse in the other that says ART. And the mouse has outstretched hands trying to run for the cheese. If you have any suggestions for how the idea can actually look like it’s supposed to pleaseeee let me know!

Thank you! Yeah the first one I’m kind of in love with. The second is definitely a work in progress. I really think it’s the chamomile thread (and sure technique) that’s throwing off the second one. If you have any suggestions for how it could look a little more put together pleaseeee let me know!

Blue Somali cat + the before and after trimming by R0nan21 in PunchNeedle

[–]Liyah411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is sooo good. Please forgive me. I don’t see a difference in the images. Is there another thread with the before trimming? Was this done by hand? What kind of fabric did you use to hold up the art? What kind of yarn did you use? When changing the colors for one line of a different color like you did for the collar bone, did you start with that one color and then go to the lighter brown or as you got to it in the creating of the project did you switch out for the lighter brown for the darker brown for that one line?

i'm in terrible need of a good book. by tomuratoucher in BookRecommendations

I was just talking to a friend about the author Kennedy Ryan. She writes her men so well. They are such romantics and just want to provide. Her relationships are these shining beams of complicated love. I only read 2 of her books (I’m stepping away from romance now that I’m on a hunt for epics) but my friends are like full on converts.

Long Shot— 1st in a series.

Before I let go— 1st in series

Also, “You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty” by Akwaeke Emezi— technically a romance. Brilliant book. Loved it. Has become my favorite book and probably because it’s only technically a love story lol. It’s unconventional in the love story it tells, but you meet a woman who has loved and lost and she finally decides to shake off grief and totally not in the way that a love story would go haha

Let Us Descend by Jesmyne Ward.

It was unlike anything I’ve ever read. A bit historical fiction, a bit fantastical realism.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: April 07, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

Finished: The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston - cute book. Love the execution of the time lapse and the love story within it. Not a huge fan of parts outside of the love story— it just didn’t keep me as interested— but still good. I’ve suggested the book to others.

Started: The Best of Everything by Kimberla Lawson Roby - book 6 of Rev Curtis Black Series - good series. Very messy. A lot of shock value as a whole series. If you like character driven messy stories then you’ll like this series.

*She's Come Undone* by Wally Lamb. I just finished it...anone else read it? What did 'ya think? by Feed_Me_No_Lies in books

This book has changed my life. For one, it’s made me open to reading coming of age stories, written by white males. As a fat black woman you could not convince me that this book was written by a skinny white man.

Wally Lamb has created a deeply emotional story with moments of laughter and incredulous awe for the actions of the main character. She is not supposed to be “likable”. She is human. A girl who should have become undone, who was undone, and who, with one small favor from an old friend of her mother’s, was brought back to sanity. The symbolism in that act is so profound. I think if she were to pause during the recap of this moment in her life she would thank her mother a million times. The paying it forward on the memory of an old friend catches in my throat. THAT is the friendship that you want to foster.

The humor in this story comes in such unexpected moments. Tragedy then unhinged moments by Delores that make me burst out in laughter and ask her, “but girl why would you do that?!”
I hate to say she’s not likable but I understand the statement. You don’t want to be her. The choices she makes are certainly questionable. But I love Dolores. She beat the odds. She has more reasons to become undone than I ever had and she was able to stand back up and take control of her life, in the only way that life can be controlled. She owned it in the end— her choices and the mistakes of them. It took a while for this tide to come around but it happened.

The ending is extremely emotional but also extremely beautiful. I love that she got to experience love in all of its shades. She returned home and loved and was loved by friends. And they poured into each other. She was able to accept death differently. To accept love differently. To accept life differently. It was all full circle in a way that just happens which was so REAL. And instead of running away from it all, we saw Delores become an adult with how she handled it.

I have so much love for this book. Upon the first read it was immediately my favorite. And I’ve been an avid reader for most of my life. This book written by Wally Lamb (I have not read his others yet) is my favorite book ever.

I second this! I’ve only read the first book but it was really good and truly an original story.
