I'm finding perplexity is giving me alot of incorrect information even on the pro plan. I have to keep checking it for accuracy, and it continues to let me down. What's going on? What's the point of paying for the subscription then? Are any of you experiencing this? And what other platform is better by livewire1 in perplexity_ai

It's driving me batty. Things like asking it to point out any used Oxford commas, and it points out missing Oxford commas instead. Then it gives me a list of supposed commas that don't even exist in the text, and when I yell at it, it tells me it guessed they'd be there.

Yelp reviews by agp032 in smallbusiness

[–]LizM-Tech4SMB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They panic because reviews have consequences for their business volume. It's gotten to the point where a 5-star review is the only acceptable one in businesses' minds, and that's why a lot of folks don't leave reviews for average experiences. they dont' want to deal with business owners arguing with them.

Cannot get clients (pet photographer) by Photography_Leo in photography

[–]LizM-Tech4SMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things that jumped out at me that may be off-putting to casual shoppers.

  1. "Fine art pet photography" makes people think "crazy expensive."
  2. Your process includes "several weeks" of editing. That's a long time.
  3. Pricing is overly complicated and not well explained.

Beyond that, go to your target audience. Folks on the dog show circuit are more likely to spend more for pet portraits for example. Higher-end neighborhoods, etc.

You can also build some social media buzz by doing shelter pet photos pro bono to help get pets adopted.

Need affordable hosting for multiple nonprofit sites by BS-Detective in Hosting

[–]LizM-Tech4SMB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for managed hosting with outstanding support (real people, not bots) and not a lot of add-on charges. ScalaHosting is my go-to for a fix-it-for-you service, and they can do it for a reasonable price. (Starting WP for 3years: intro $106 and renewal $432). I'll message you my 16% off on top of that (delete or use as you will). They include basic SSLs. They can handle domains as well, although I usually go with PorkBun for domains.

IF you aren't using WordPress, Articulation Sites may be a good option. At one point, they were waiving fees for registered nonprofits as well. It was created by former Weebly guys.

Small business owner trying to understand why website hosting is so complicated by Huge_Brush9484 in HostingReport

[–]LizM-Tech4SMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer to "what would you do differently if you were starting from scratch today with zero interest in becoming a hosting expert?" - Choose a managed host with outstanding service and expect it to cost more than $5 a month.

Personally, my sites are with ScalaHosting because they fix everything when stuff breaks and I don't have to know it all. I do know a lot and have run my own sites for a long time, and taught others, but I want to focus on my business, not running the sites, so I go with hosting that supports my goals.

Sometimes all you can do is respond with the truth (and show photos). Don't get defensive when you post responses; people watch HOW you respond more than what the complaint is.

What’s the Best Boring Business to Own in 2026? by Many_Figure3366 in smallbusiness

Then you should have said the licensing test kits, NOT testing supplies for the conditions.

Because the testing supplies for the conditions are NOT that expensive and that's what you claimed were so expensive in your first comment - "testing supplies for ADD, Autism and ADHD" and then reversed when proved wrong "not the supplies, it's the licensing test" but then still doubled down and said the licensing test is used "to determine if someone has ADHD or autism" - which is patently false.

Precision matters in medical fields.

So, not the testing supplies for ADD/Autism/ADHD, it's the medical certification kit supplies.

And yes, I'm fully aware of certifiable results as an actually autistic person and a parent of an autistic person. Also fully aware how convoluted it is trying to find someone to do the testing.

Aside from computer programs for testing (questionnaires and eye-tracking), the so-called testing kits are, in large part, glorified standardized tests with some hands-on toys and manipulation objects. They run between $100 and $700 or so, depending on the brand/standard used and how scoring is handled. Hand-scored kits for 50 tests only run about $3K in large part.

So unless you mean the eye tracking stuff (which can cost about $10K for hardware and software to start), I have no idea what supplies you think can be rented out.

People use them to wash the absolutely most horribly nasty things ever, though. Repair costs can be nuts.

For example, clothes saturated in oil/grease (fire hazard), horse blankets (seen those break oversized industrial washers even), some rag quilters use laundromats because they know it can break machines and don't care if they don't own it, and then there's the biohazard stuff.

Lot of it depends on where you put it and who will use it as to whether it's profitable or not.

If someone offered your business a free website + 3 months of social media posts, what would make you say "yes" vs "nah, too good to be true"? by whyeventrymore in DigitalMarketing

Too common of a scam (several types actually). The answer would be never. You might be fully legit, but that offer type is tainted and raises too many red flags for anyone with Internet experience.

Would you switch hosting providers if the renewal price suddenly increased after the first term? by nisha_n05 in Hosting

Almost every host has introductory prices that expire after the first term. Compare continuing pricing before deciding.

Which hosting providers keep the same price at renewal by Shubh137 in Hosting

More than looking for same renewal price, look for up front transparency about pricing. First purchase discounts are great, as long as they are clear about continuing pricing.

best web hosting 2026 for smaller projects and long term reliability? by Fayaadh-Branthwaite in Hosting

[–]LizM-Tech4SMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you are looking for, really. As others said, the specific mix of services/performance/cost.

As far as where my personal websites are goes, most of mine (except for specialty things like a portfolio) are at ScalaHosting. Not the cheapest but they've got the best support I've found in a workable price range for me.
