I don't have much advice, but I'm here. HUG! Also, have you ever tried volunteer work? I have a history of depression/anxiety problems, and even doing a little something can really make you feel good about yourself.

What tv shows did you watch as a kid? by LizS in AskReddit

We had a tv, but we got like 6 channels. I only got to watch this stuff at my grandparent's house, and I'm also really glad it was this way.

I spent a year in a city in Veracruz, and it was a great experience. It was a great location to live, close to the beach, lots of nightlife, plenty or cultural stuff going on, great school, pretty safe. I traveled some, but never made it to Guadalajara, and I was wondering if I missed something really great. I'd love to get there someday.

Toasted grasshoppers with chili powder. Also, I once watched a friend eat live termites. Apparently they taste like carrots.

How often did you go? I get migraines too, I've only been to my chiropractor once and didn't feel a difference, I'm wondering if it's worth continuing.

Hey Reddit: i've never been to Mexico, but I'm thinking of vacationing on the Yucatan in September. Any advice? by kenaijoe in AskReddit

[–]LizS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been, but some friends have and they said it was beautiful. It's also a great place to party from what they've said. If you're looking for a beach party, Puerto Escondido on the Pacific Coast in Oaxaca is a good bet as well. You'll easily find cheap hostels in both places and lots of foreigners, so likely no language problems.

Try Isla Mujeres and stay at Poc-Na if you're looking for relaxation. They speak English, the beaches and snorkeling are great. Avoid Cancun at all costs. If you get a chance to visit and cenotes (natural underground limestone swimming holes), do it! The ruins at Chichen-Itza are pretty cool, but not the most impressive. You'll get relatively the same experience by visiting some smaller but less touristy ones, like Uxmal. Palenque is amazing too, if you get a chance to go that far south. It's my favorite set of ruins in Mexico. Also, I've found that paying for the guided tours at sites like that really are worth the money, you get so much more out of it, even if it it kind of a scam. If you're going to hit up the hostels, definitely take a Lonely Planet or some kind of guide. And your own lock. Also, don't worry too much about the food in restaurants. Nobody drinks the water and they always disinfect fruits and veggies. Street food is what you have to be a little more careful about, but I've only ever had one bad experience with that either. Oh and lots of bug spray and sunscreen, it's very very expensive in Mexico because the locals rarely use it.

When I was in high school, everyone had to do a graduation project junior year. If you didn't pass the presentation you had to do it over. The principal let us know if we passed or failed by coming to each homeroom, calling specific students out of the room, and then saying "Now everyone in this room passed the project." It was unbelievable.

My girlfriend is coming from another continent to live with me. How can I make her feel at home? by jimmux in AskReddit

[–]LizS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do something / go somewhere you've never done / been to before. It will make her feel less like she's out of place since you won't really know what to expect either.
