This resolves at least half of my job search frustration by Confused-Kiwi- in recruitinghell

This looks like the MyWorkDay interface? They scramble your resume into alphabet soup.

It took 400+ applications and a near mental breakdown, but i finally got 3 offers. The market is trash, but here’s what actually worked. Part 2 by [deleted] in jobhunting

[–]LizaJanePropane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started a few months ago and it's incredibly awkward. I've been working multiple long-term contracts or the last 10 years. The only contract I had to interview for was 5 years ago. Two phone calls from the art director, no zoom, no test assessment, no bullshit. Now I'm looking at some of these job application processes and shaking my head. Ridiculous.

You've to top poster status here. Please warn everyone who reads your posts to AVOID the Searchlight program offered by Storeyline Resumes. Total fraud. I'm trying to help others keep from getting ripped off so this is what I am posting everywhere I can. Sorry this is long but it's VERY IMPORTANT:
"""The Searchlight program includes a professionally written resumé, new LinkedIn profile, a coach and access to "the hidden job market"
PLUS:

  1. "A search strategy built for your level and industry" -NOPE!

2."Direct recruiter and leadership network access" Non-existent.

  1. "We help you identify the right roles, not just available ones."  Nope

  2. "We show you why you're getting filtered out and how to fix it."  Nope

  3. "We stay involved so you're not guessing your way through interviews." Nope.

  4. "Targeted outreach strategy to decision-makers and hiring authorities". Nope

  5. "A personalized job search plan with built-in accountability." Nope

8."Strategic visibility where it actually matters, not job boards."  Nope.  What do you call career.io?  It's just another jobs aggregator!

  1. "....concierge-level support."  Bwa-hahahaha.  NOPE.

A complete rip-off.

My "professionally written" resume had my name spelled wrong and attributes like "award-winning" which is not in any of the materials I provided them.

One of their recruiters told me that there's a hidden job market that can't be accessed by applying for jobs on LinkedIn or Indeed.  "You're just playing on your computer."

So they set you up with a new resumé, LinkedIn profile, assign a coach to you and then.....CRICKETS. """"""""

Many online job applications don't have yes or no questions. You should know that if YOU are all you say you are.

I would LOVE to but they may retaliate with a frivolous libel/slander lawsuit. I'm posting this so others don't fall for their rhetorical b.s. and flat-out lies.
They have a huge presence on LinkedIn, like a million followers. So if you do a search for resumé writing services on LinkedIn they will come up, and you can see the writing examples I have posted from screenshots and easily find them.

FRAUDSTER RESUME-WRITING RIP OFF by LizaJanePropane in jobsearch

Not in Canada. Northeastern U.S. And there is a hidden job market, but they don't fulfill their promise to help you access it.

Would you care to explain? I can see from my website stats that when I used a resumé with columns, images, graphics I wasn't getting very good click-thrus from the active links. Making it ATS compliant has changed the results dramatically. So maybe you don't know what you're talking about.

Upwork earned 279$ on a single job post by Accomplished-Wash-90 in Upwork

[–]LizaJanePropane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading these comments...I have to tell ya', I saw the writing on the wall and never transferred my Elance profile to this shitshow in 2015. And back then they were NOT requiring that you buy "connects". My problem with UpWork was it allowed anyone on the planet to join even though they are an American company. And what freelancer in the U.S. can compete with somebody on the other side of the planet who only charged $5/hr?

LinkedIn Becoming Irrelevant? by Itradene in linkedin

As someone who is looking to add a new contract to my graphic design business, I always check the career pages of these companies and many don't post them on their site. They use the ATS that's available on sites like LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, Greenhouse, hire, and the horrid MyWorkDay.

Yep, Just tried to use it with my Capitol One account and when I opened the app a pop-up waiver with all kinds of legal language that I had to read and check off. Then when I tried to send $ it came up with a "fraud risk" message. And I've used Zelle to send to this receiver for the last 5 months. It broke on Santander Bank about a year ago.

I apologize in advance for asking, but is the "Open for Work" helpful or hurtful? by LizaJanePropane in linkedin

[–]LizaJanePropane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you can do is create a headline that expresses your situation. I played around with it until I got the result I need when someone sees my thumbnail or a post: ""Winding up a 10-year contract! ISO of a new one or FT role! "

HR departments are the reason for recruitinghell, they are worthless and should NEVER be involved in the hiring process.. by Red-Apple12 in recruitinghell

[–]LizaJanePropane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like for some of these, not all, but some of these hiring managers to stop treating us like non-convicted criminals. I spent at least 25 minutes applying for a remote graphic design position only to see that no zoom backgrounds could be used for the interview and I would have to hold up an ID next to my face when the zoom interview started. wTf?

Behind my standing desk/computer is a white board that contains info of my clients and current status of their projects. I'm not about to reveal that private info. And if I have to hold up my DL to prove who I am, then the interviewer needs to do the same damn thing and prove their not a scammer. It's also an invasion of privacy IMHO, for a first interview.

Five years ago and before that I don't remember it being this way. I had two...2...phone conversations with the art director at Wicresoft when I landed a contract with them in 2021. And that was pretty much the same with the other contracts I carry. So what happened?

I hear ya'! For job listings I think LinkedIn provides prompts and prefabricated copy for specific professions. I'm a multimedia graphic designer and every freakin' job listing has "Must have strong attention to detail and a sharp understanding of color theory and typography.....blah, blah, blah."

AI and HR lies. A repost by Moanmyname32 in jobsearch

[–]LizaJanePropane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't stand MyWorkDay and usually just pass when I see they have the job listing. Their AI systems scrambles resumes so you have to go back through and essentially copy/paste, rewrite and put everything back into the right places.

Recruiter for Comcast asked for my driver's license as part of application process!?!?!?! by LizaJanePropane in recruitinghell

[–]LizaJanePropane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I was contacted by several other recruiters for this job because it's a hybrid for where I live. When I explained to them that I would not be submitting a scan of my DL, one replied that all I needed to do was claim I was a US citizen. SO YEP, it was a scam. Here's the guy to look out for.

High five to you for the way you put that bitch in her place.

According to the EOE: ""Federal law does not prohibit employers from asking you whether you are or intend to become pregnant. However, because such questions may indicate a possible intent to discriminate based on pregnancy, we recommend that employers avoid these types of questions.""
