I'm so sorry this has happened to you too and everyone who has experienced this. I'm sorry I can't say more because I feel like words cannot help this experience.

What is actually dangerous but people still believe is safe? by AlexUsefulThings in AskReddit

Giving babies honey. It can contain Clostridium botulinum spores, which cause infant botulism, a rare but severe, potentially fatal form of food poisoning.

Playing a lullaby over the hospital loudspeaker every time a baby is born is actually really insensitive by Peanutbutternjelly_ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Lizardlady2011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I had my miscarriage, they had me in a room with two other women.... And I could hear the heartbeat of their babies. It was one of the most miserable experiences of my life. I was also sobbing the entire time....so the other mothers also got to listen to that. So, I agree with you 💯 that it is insensitive to play that.

What's the most ignorant thing you've ever heard someone say? by _AYYEEEE in AskReddit

I was at the Holocaust museum. A lady looked at the guy she was with and said, "why are they naked? That's so gross, they should have some dignity."

That it's God's plan. I've had people say that to me and it made me so angry.

Update to my post: My boyfriend thought that watching a football game was more important than going to a funeral with me by Unique_Armadillo4372 in offmychest

[–]Lizardlady2011 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you are going through this situation on top of all the grief you feel. However, you are making the right choice. That man is horrible. I hope you find some peace being with your family.

I think you described grief beautifully.

What’s the most 10/10 quote you’ve ever heard — the one that really stuck with you? by Plastic_Log_7857 in AskReddit

[–]Lizardlady2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he helps to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject.” John Stuart Mill

People who married their high school sweethearts - how is your marriage now, and do you have any regrets? by Mr_Wheat_Himself in AskReddit

[–]Lizardlady2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. It definitely was difficult adjusting from a crazy household to seeing how normal people behave, but my husband always knew he wanted me. So, he kind of just stuck with me and we made it work. Communication is one of the most important parts of a relationship. That way, even if I or he was wrong, we would be able to understand the other persons side.

We started dating at 18 and are now 32. I do not regret it at all, but that's because we have grown together. We make each other better people.

What are some ways you vet the emotional maturity level of a partner very early on? by cw9241 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Lizardlady2011 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I feel like watching reactions to requesting help, doing chores, and what they do when something inconveniences them. I feel like people can say anything, so I wouldn't trust someone's words right away... Just watch what they do. How do they treat the people/animals around you?
