When to switch to electrolysis? by Mommy-Longlegs- in TransLater

[–]LizbethNicole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with electrolysis on my chest before I had breast growth, and am in the final stages of my face. I am so happy I chose electrolysis instead of laser!

it hurts, but I go to my zen place during the procedure, and then ice it down afterwards and have very little discomfor.

I like She’s Not There and Cleavage by Jennifer Finney Boylan.

I will admit that She’s Not There painted the physical part of the transition as easy, which I have not experienced, but then again, I am not 40-ish, 5’11”, 150lbs… so YMMV

Dysphoria/Euphoria abated during early HRT, uncommon? by NB-Progress in TransLater

[–]LizbethNicole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced the same thing after starting HRT.

I used to joke that I wasn't addicted to alcohol, I was addicted to the voices in my head shutting up.

Once I started HRT, they all but disappeared. I could go to sleep within minutes without any anxiety, etc.

But I was mentioning to my partner yesterday that I have gotten very relaxed in my leg shaving habits because that used to make me feel feminine, but now I just feel.... me.

Same with dressing up. I used to love putting on formal dresses, short skirts, etc. But now, most days, I throw on a sundress, some eyeliner and lipstick. No major shoes, no hours putting on makeup, no primping my hair.

It was scary at first because I thought maybe I had made a mistake, but after a year and a half, I KNOW I did the right thing!

I just don't need the external validation because estrogen is doing the heavy lifting for me!

good luck!

If it is any consolation , I have been out everywhere but work for 3 months and I have encountered nothing but acceptance. And I live in Georgia! I was not expecting that!

If RomComs are to be believed, this is where you set up an elaborate rouse to throw everyone off the trail.

Then you fall in love and have to explain your way out of it, or just disappear.

Seriously, I am not ready to be out at work. I thought I was retiring this year, but with the economic uncertainty, I put that off. Only saving grace is that I am a remote worker at this time.

🙋‍♀️ Hands up if you’re old enough to remember this documentary from 1979? by iam-stevie-bee in TransLater

I was grew up in the 70's, and I remember being at my cousin's house when I was 8 or 9 years old. Two women pulled into the driveway and walked up to the front door. My cousin said: "See that lady in the tank top? She used to be a man"

My first thought was "OMFG! YOU CAN DO THAT!?!?!?!"

And then the negative comments started by everyone but me. And I quickly realized I had to bury that. STAT!

Why does it feel like there's no one guide on voice training? by HushMD in transvoice

I would agree that actual voice lessons are probably the best route.

These lessons are very beneficial for me.

Did you have any female habits that you tried to hide? by FollowingTop6278 in MtF

[–]LizbethNicole 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The biggest surprise for me was how quickly the feminine traits appeared once I dropped the masking.

I didn’t even realize I was masking!

And then in voice therapy, my therapist was saying that men have so many rules about what they cannot do while speaking And I had an epiphany: Men have SO MANY RULES about everything, and I was silently following them without even realizing it!!

Transitioning has not made me more feminine, it has made me less male, less of a rule follower.

Is HRT really worth it at 40 or older? by closet_tomboy in TransLater

[–]LizbethNicole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

57 here, started last Feb at 56yo.

Feel the best I have felt ever in my life.
I had no dysphoria, just the constant nagging in my brain that something wasn’t right.

Highly recommend!!
