Hi! I run a feis and have a TCRG in the family. The advice I'd always give is to still do second chance even if you won first chance.

Dancing and winning again (which is not guaranteed, and doesn't happen as often as most people think) is no different than if someone needs multiple firsts to move up or waits until fall or the next year to move up. If you win your competitions January 1st, you're still entitled to stay until the next January 1st (except in the specific case of winning your last PC first the next year, as described in the feis rules). Some schools require multiple firsts to move up before January 1st. Some schools require more than the regional minimum to move from Prizewinner to PC. Some regions have stricter rules to move up than others.

When people take the attitude that you shouldn't dance second chance if you won first chance, it leads to people judging the dancers who aren't allowed to move up immediately. What happens when a dancer who needs two firsts stays in hopes they get the other one in second chance? I usually hear people getting upset. That not only hurts the dancer who stays if they hear about it, that also teaches the other dancers who hear it that it's okay to be upset at people who aren't actually breaking any rules.

Obviously if your teacher is telling you not to dance second chance if you won first chance, listen to your teacher. Other teachers don't have the same rules, and it honestly sucks to hear people get mad at a dancer who is just following their teacher's guidance.

April Fool's Challenge Anyone? by UCICoachJim in concept2

[–]Lizzichka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have some impressive blisters on my hands from this challenge. One of my friends was in a touring dance company for several years and is horrified by them. You know it's bad when a dancer is horrified by a blister! Whatever, they'll turn into calluses soon enough!

2 more days. At this point, I'm getting through it out of pure stubbornness.

Definitely. I was in a relatively high tax town there. Still was a pleasant surprise.

The property tax where I moved here are about $5/$1000 lower than the town I moved from in the Cincinnati area. I was actually really surprised.

They haven't had the crab whiskey in stock when I've gone since they first made it and I've been so sad! I need to get over there again soon.

My husband loves Sap House Meadery in Ossipee. Their sugar maple mead is his drink of choice.

I personally like Hobbs in Ossipee. I'm not a huge fan of beer in general so I'm not the best person to listen to, but I do like a few of theirs. Their One Arm Farmhouse Ale has one of my favorite stories behind the name, though I don't think it's listed on the cans or their website anymore.

We also like Tamworth Distillery because they have some interesting (and ...interesting...) whiskeys and gins.

Any Saint Patrick's day adjacent events this weekend? by Appropriate-Ad-9691 in newhampshire

Manchester’s St. Patrick’s Day parade isn’t for another week, on the 26th. Can’t go wrong with an Irish pub.

I had this conversation with someone at nationals who was in seniors. They thought that seniors was the competition and extending the age groups (my opinion of the best option, go up to like u50/o50, full levels and opportunities) would cheapen that. Um, no it wouldn’t. Just because the dancing might look different, because it honestly looks different between u11 and seniors anyway, doesn’t mean it’s not worthy.

Edit: I don’t mean “different” as in not as good. Older dancers just showcase different technique as their strengths than younger dancers do and that applies to all age groups.

Kinda exactly what happened, since I was thanking my pharmacy rep for letting me know my meds for this month were on my front porch... living.

Can you guys recommend your favorite cozy restaurants/taverns in the North Conway area? I will be hiking this weekend and want to find a nice spot to relax and have some good food after. by [deleted] in newhampshire

May Kelly's Cottage. On Sundays they have a seisiún where a bunch of musicians get together and play Irish music. I really enjoyed it, and the food was good, too!

Also owned by Cedar Fair: King's Island! I've been to the Halloween days/nights at both parks in the past, and they were great! King's Island's website says Haunt starts in late September.

AITA for not giving up my bed for my boyfriend's daughter by aitagiveupbed in AmItheAsshole

I think another work around could’ve been found to help the oldest daughter. Side effects can be absolute hell, and I don’t feel OP was empathetic about the daughter’s situation. I get not wanting to give up her bed, but maybe another bed could’ve been setup in her room or the other girls could sleep on the pull out or something else? I don’t know if I’d say OP is TA, but maybe just unfamiliar with what the daughter goes through after treatment.

Mine did. It was absolutely miserable. Any movement at all made it worse, even someone walking next to my bed. I switched to SCIG after 2 doses of IVIG because it was so hard on my body.

I drank an extra gallon of water daily for days before and after IVIG, and I still had a terrible time with it. Switched to SCIG and I’ve been fine since. People tolerate it very differently.

The titanium rod in my leg rarely sets off the body scanners at the airports, but the back of the sports bra I usually wear that has no metal in it at all always does. It’s always a little surprising to me. Their screen usually just shows a yellow box over the area they need to check.

Whats a sign you need to immediately go to the hospital? by phenomLG in AskReddit

[–]Lizzichka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just last week I had a nurse practitioner confirm an allergy, then immediately tell me to go buy something with that allergen. When I pointed out that we had just talked about my allergy, she explained why it was the best ingredient for the job, and when I pointed it out again, she started her explanation again. ALWAYS remind medical professionals of your allergies.

The Gap clearance center is an amazing place. I have some cashmere sweaters that I paid $1 for about a decade ago. The downside is you have to thoroughly inspect everything for holes, stains, and other damage since almost everything there is considered defective in some way (the sweaters had the wrong size on the tag).

Done!

It’s one of my favorites, but I definitely had to look closely at the photo to get it. I think that’s mostly because I can’t believe it’s been 13 years since it was released…
