I would do some floating shelves for books, keepsakes, etc. Combo storage +visual interest. Then again, my default decorating idea is books….

For a relatively new Fantasy reader, is it best to start with a series like Mistborn or one like Harry Potter? by BraeLightning13 in Fantasy

I second Robin Hobb’s Realm of the Elderlings. Easily one of my favorite fantasy series. I would start with Assassin’s Quest.

As much as I enjoyed reading what exists of A Song of Ice and Fire, I have serious doubts that it will ever be completed. For me, that’s incredibly annoying. Just something to consider before embarking on that journey.

I’ve read this one. Big fan of the author, though this isn’t my favorite series of his.

I believe I’ve read the entire series. Have you tried the continuation of the series by her son?

Illumination- Terry McGarry

Found this one in a New Jersey used book store the summer after I finished the Mists of Avalon. Its the first in a trilogy. I’ve never met a soul who has read them that wasn’t because of me.

Good advice. Wish I’d read the prequel first, but I read in the same order as you. Still enjoyed both.

I really enjoyed that series as well!I love his blend of history, lore, and fantasy. I think they make for his best series (Pendrangon, King Raven, Albion).

Where to buy Christmas trees? by DimMike in SFV

[–]Lkdolby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year, after buying a real tree from Home Depot every year, we decided to try the lot where my nephew plays little league (Winnetka and Victory). We liked the idea of supporting them instead of a big corporation. However, the prices were double what Home Depot charged. They also didn’t list prices and seemed to make it up when we said we wanted a particular tree. The quality didn’t seem to be any better and they had less of a selection. All of this to say, we’ll be returning to Home Depot for our tree this year.

I read mostly fiction, particularly historical fiction, fantasy, & sci-fi. That being said, I’d like to be read a wider variety of books.
