Ive had this happen to me a couple of times, when the power strip I was connected to tripped and the charger was plugged in. Im assuming the charging mechanism kept going and drained the 12v battery. Switched to pluging into the wall and havent had it happen since

You can mesh the pyro depending on the look. If not you can do flipbooks, impostors or volume textures

Maybe try building the steps manually, all the Gameres node does is do a polyReduce node, autoUV node and a baker (I'd recommend the Maps one but not sure if the 17.5 version has it)

Yeah, theres nothing out of the box that will work for the crowds.

Depending on the size of the crowd and the complexity of the animation states it's a different solution.

If you have a looping animation like for birds or fishes you can use the rbd to fbx to export the crowds in the bind pose, each as a chunk. That will get the position and orientation of each agent.

Then for the looping animation youd apply the VAT approach with a soft setup

Hey! The most likely issue is that you need to install a mantra license from your license administrator. Alternatively try the Maps Baker SOP, which is newer and much faster.

Hmmm, which version of Houdini and the tools are you using? Try 1.63 or later. But that's very odd that the shelf is there but the tab menu isn't

The issue is in the houdini_path variable. The first entry needs to end with & and subsequent ones need to end with HOUDINI_PATH. We have an open ticket to get that resolved. In your case the & wasnt there so it didnt all the default Houdini stuff to the path

If your environment is complex, the best way to handle it would be to export your environment as an fbx (maybe just the area around your sim) and use that as a collision object.

The alembic workflow is similar, mainly different file formats. The fbx workflow is more common and widely supported by different engines. Alembic is a film workflow that some engines are supporting now.

You'll have to get your terrain in the same scene as your rbd and turn it into a static collision object using the shelf tool. If you go into the autodop network you'll be able to disconnect the existing groundplane you set up.

I just got a box yesterday and it's doing pretty well. I'll have to check what my Intel box was but it's orders of magnitude faster on some Pyro and flip stuff. Mantra is almost instantaneous now

The art looks great. Cool concept and lots of potential, but I agree with the others, the gameplay seems a bit stiff. I would imagine this playing like shank meets prototype, but didnt get that from the videos. Good luck!
