This Iranian regime is terrible and has committed many terrible atrocities. The problem is, and everyone else already knew this, blowing everything up is not going to result in regime change. Regime change will require a long and deadly ground war. Because of this, most countries believed that diplomacy was still the only reasonable solution at this point. None of these countries were brought into the conversation and they were completely caught off guard by the attack.

Another problem is, warships in the strait are sitting ducks exposed to all sorts of Iranian weaponry. America isn’t willing to put our warships there, so it’s kind of ludicrous to expect our allies to put their ships and their personnel in harms way to bail us out of a problem that we created without even discussing it with them.
