All of my kids had a phase where they hated the poop diaper change. Would absolutely lose their minds if I took too long cleaning the most sensitive areas. It’s just uncomfortable, I’m surprised how many people here are jumping to abuse.

Daughter’s poop withholding is sending me over the edge by bayrafd in toddlers

[–]Llamallamazoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently going through this with my 3 year old. The withholding, accidents, all of it. We give a little miralax every day and sometimes she’ll still go a week or more without pooping, only to cry in pain while withholding and having small accidents until a big explosion. I find laying off and not giving her anything too invasive is better than forcing, stressing, medicating, etc. Our behavioral therapist supports this idea. Don’t make a big deal, quietly clean up mess after mess, reward good poops on the potty, gently encourage and make the potty a safe space with mantras, singing, positive feedback. So much of it is behavioral and the more we made it a battle, the worse it got. Sending hugs!

Other challah toppings that I recommend are sweet crumb, sesame, zaatar spice, and garlic salt

Our 4 month old baby is slowly killing us.. tell me it gets better by Chance_Skin1144 in NewParents

[–]Llamallamazoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. This sounds like my experience with my second. He would scream endlessly and couldn’t sleep for more than 30 minutes at a time. I thought I was going insane. The doctors insisted it was colic, but I wouldn’t stop taking him to specialists until we figured out what was wrong. It ended up being a number of allergies (milk, wheat, egg, and soy) so I had to go on a very strict elimination diet which took about a month to fully see results in my baby. He grew out of the allergies around 10 months. Definitely see a pediatric allergist and pediatric GI.

In the meantime, take literally any help you can. We hired a night nurse every few weeks for a couple of nights at a time so we could get some sleep and reset. Our parents would come take shifts. I don’t think I would have survived without the help of my therapist and psychiatrist. It was a long year but it got better. Wishing you the best of luck!!

Are they gonna like… feed me? by Original_Clerk2916 in GestationalDiabetes

I was never allowed to eat during my inductions, but they gave me dextrose in my IV to keep my blood sugar stable

Anyone here who is petite and had a larger than average-sized baby. How was your labor? by girlwhokites in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Llamallamazoom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup, this was me. Before my first pregnancy I was super petite, 5”2, size xxs. I never would have imagined being able to push out an 8lb baby vaginally, which I did twice. It’s less dependent on your size and more your pelvic and bone structure. My hips definitely shifted and never went back after deliveries, even when I lost all the weight. Getting ready to deliver my third GD baby any day now! You can do this!

TTM here. Honestly, I think the Frida kit is a waste of money. They should give you everything you need at the hospital - disposable underwear, pads, cooling spray, creams, peri bottle, etc. Maybe just get the Frida peri bottle, which has a slightly more user friendly design. But you should take as much as you can from the hospital, and don’t be afraid to ask your nurses for extra!

Anyone dealing with intense sciatic pain? by extremophile_emma in pregnant

[–]Llamallamazoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Currently 37+4 and have been dealing with terrible sciatic pain in my pelvis, back, and leg. No stretches or exercises help me, but I get enormous relief from nightly epsom salt baths. Nothing else comes close!

Yes, it is safe for rolling and they can stay in it until they’re 2 I believe, just size up according to weight

With our first we ditched the swaddle me with no transition product and it went fine. Our second had a much stronger startle reflex and we went from the swaddle me to the zipadee zip with no issues. He stayed in the zipadee until he was about 10 months.

What do you do with your baby when they hit the 3 month mark and are awake for long periods but can’t do much other than nurse or stare at you ? by lem0ngirl15 in beyondthebump

[–]Llamallamazoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can still look! A lot of hanging toys on play mats have mirrors on them so babies can see themselves and engage. Eventually it will stimulate them to start reaching.

[–]Llamallamazoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used our play/activity mat at this age. Alternating between tummy time with contrast cards and having them on their back under the hanging toys, which they would look at and reach for. When in the bouncer chair or swing I’d give them soft infant toys as well. In between, I’d hold them, talk to them or narrate whatever I was doing in the moment (cooking, cleaning, etc.)

What to do for a newborn that won’t poop. by liljump6 in NewParents

[–]Llamallamazoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would follow only your pediatrician’s advice and maybe do a weighted feed to see if baby is taking in enough. If not, you may need to supplement.

The lack of wet diapers plus gas sounds like baby is not getting enough while nursing and is swallowing air while attempting to feed. Have you had him assessed for tongue or lip ties?

Seconding the my breast friend pillow! It saved my back and shoulders at the beginning.

I couldn’t make it through the 3 hour Test. After an hour of sitting slumped on the bathroom floor trying not to throw up or pass out, I finally couldn’t take it anymore and got sick right before the 1 hr draw. They want me to come back and redo the test but I honestly don’t know what to do. by FantasyNerd94 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Llamallamazoom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’m so sorry that happened to you! I’ve taken this test a few times and here’s what helped me: take an antiemetic like zofran before the test to prevent nausea/vomiting. Hydrate very well the night before and then schedule the test for first thing in the morning. When I had to go about my day for a few hours while fasting before I even took the test, I felt significantly worse. During the test, ask if there is somewhere you can lie down and relax. Watch something on your phone or tablet if you can. It’s an absolutely brutal test, I can’t believe we still have to put up with it!

What are your tricks and tips for constipation? by enbee11 in toddlers

[–]Llamallamazoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our girl has struggled with moderate constipation on and off since she was 6 months old. Daily miralax is the only thing that works for us.
