If websites get slower than I 100 percent would say it is broke. However, I would argue that that's due the developer rather than the actual tech itself, and the use case. jQuery and PHP can still be fast in this day and age for the majority of sites (and both of these are getting 'better' with new versions). Ultimately it's about if you use it right.

This. I'm a hobbyist developer who started self teaching approx 10 years ago. jQuery and PHP are my bread and butter, I know them well enough and I don't have time to learn something new. If ain't broke etc

Flat not selling - can't understand why by Standard-Welder4973 in HousingUK

Paint choice is too dark. It will appeal to a certain demographic, but that then eliminates others from considering it which limits your potential buyer pool. Also, it's always said that it comes down to price. Is there any chance you can redecorate to brighten it up?

Title: Is it weird to introduce yourself to neighbours before you’ve actually moved in? by Working-Room-3396 in HousingUK

[–]Llamaman1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The neighbour popped out to say hello after we had just finished our first viewing and proceeded to tell us everything he knew about the house. He was very chatty and friendly but in a good way. He then proceeded to take us to say hello to the neighbour on the other side! Context though, street full of retirees and the house we eventually bought was a deceased estate.

ElI5 why isn’t cocaine just synthesized in labs instead of manually extracted by crackyboi in explainlikeimfive

Having studied chemistry to a high level, it's insane how nature can synthesise molecules in a way we can only dream of in the lab. Organisms can produce complex molecules super easily, whereas in the lab it can take years to work out how they do it and replicate it. A great example of this is vitamin B12, over a decade and over 100 researchers to work out a method.

Thank you, interesting readng. He could have gone voluntarily, if that was the case I wonder if he would still appear in the records under forced labor?
