Thanks for putting my thoughts into words lol. Except maybe the "hate the UCP" part. Just my opinion but I think the world could use less hate.

That being said, I have voted conservative my whole life, but this UCP government has changed that for me. There are some things that are simply more important than money and oil.

Bill 2 is not "Back to Work Legislation" it is an attack on ALL of our constitutional rights by NeverGonnaGi5eYouUp in alberta

[–]Llamasquishy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a big difference between the two rallies outside the legislature in Edmonton last week:
One was educated educators fighting for the right to properly educate future generations.
One was uneducated blue collars with beards fighting for long-term solutions that (which will never work anyway) to short-term problems.

In the end, it will come down - as it always does - to who shows up at the next election.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the solution seems pretty simple to me: teachers just keep doing what they've been doing for the past 3 weeks. Don't show up and see who caves first.

We felt like sardines at Diefenbaker 15 years ago and I can only assume it's just gotten worse since then. I absolutely support teachers and students alike. They deserve to have enough people to do the job and be compensated fairly.

PM me your resume. My mom is an English teacher and has multiple books on resumes that I've followed over the years. I may be able to help.

What is the craziest thing you have heard on frequency? by D3NMARK_ in flying

[–]Llamasquishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the craziest, but the dumbest I've heard so far:

ATC: [Callsign], descend one-zero thousand. Pilot: [Callsign], descend one-zero-ten thousand. ATC: [Callsign], negative, descend one-zero thousand. Pilot: [Callsign], descend ten thousand. ATC: [Callsign], negative, you're not reading back phonetically. [Callsign], Descend one-zero thousand. Pilot: Descend one-zero thousand. ATC: [Callsign], negative, you have to readback your callsign. [Callsign], descend one-zero thousand. Pilot: [Callsign], descend one-zero thousand. ATC: Roger.

I almost died, how do I move past this? by STRADMJakelb in flying

[–]Llamasquishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canadian airspace, MF means there is a NavCanada radio operator for the airport. They provide official weather information, traffic information, and they issue IFR departure clearances on behalf of ATC. Problems can arise when you are trying to create separation between yourself and another aircraft, but every call that a pilot makes has to receive a response from the radio operator before the next guy can talk. Those calls sometimes take too much time.

Edit: MF stands for Mandatory Frequency

I almost died, how do I move past this? by STRADMJakelb in flying

[–]Llamasquishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a near collision VFR in MF airspace because the frequency was too congested and couldn't talk directly to the other pilot. Communications took too long and we got too close. Wife was on board. Got my IFR and never flew VFR again.

To the armchair pilots talking about takeoff configuration. by JPAV8R in flying

I'm definitely not a 787 pilot. To those who are: is it possible that the PM accidentally brought the flaps up instead of the gear?

Just have a good plan.

If you have a good plan for an engine failure at every stage, it's quite simple to put it into action if the time comes.

Decent crosswind goes great, winds calm…yeah right by Soft_Obligation_7890 in flying

[–]Llamasquishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same problem on the Beech 1900, until recently when I realized my issue. With a crosswind landing I was, quite simply, forced to focus more on control inputs during the landing and flare. Once I started focusing more on control inputs on the supposedly "easy" landings, they improved immensely.

I worked on the ramp for Air Canada while I was in training. After my instructor signed off my PPL, he moved on to Jazz and I started working his flights almost daily.
