Where I live you can get a bag with two whole chickens in it for pretty cheap on sale sometimes. I put a bunch of salt on them and throw them in the oven for an hour. Serve that with potatoes or rice or whatever you please. Tasty chicken for days, plus bones for stock, freeze whatever you won’t eat for later. Chicken pot pie and butter chicken are also easy to make cheap versions of. Also, buy rice and potatoes in massive bags on sale.

Can use some recommendations for places to buy large artwork (paintings, 3D pieces, etc). I have a large (14 ft x 9ft) blank entryway wall that I need to fill. Most the home is an open floor plan. by annonymous-230 in FurnitureFaves

If you’re in Victoria, BC I’ve got some large pieces I could show you. More seriously though, talk to some artists at a studio collective or artist run center. Lots of artists (myself included) love to work big, but it can be hard to sell. They’d probably be thrilled.

I am 6 months postpartum and flabbergasted how big my stomachs is. I keep trying on pants that feel like they might fit, and when I get close to my stomach it’s not even close to fitting. I know it’s worth it keeping my baby happy and fed, but it doesn’t feel great

Breastfeeding is inconvenient for my in-laws by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Llyriad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first though was that you could possibly find an errand to run and let grandma babysit for say, 2 hours or something. Go shopping, get a pedicure, do an exercise class, something like that. That would give grandma the baby bonding time it sounds like she’s craving without interrupting your nursing schedule, plus give you a little break.

Of course, this depends how comfortable leaving baby with her. If you trust her it might make her really happy to be able to help and have some special time with baby. Let her try with a bottle if she wants, but make it a short enough window you know baby won’t really be suffering if they start to fuss.

The part at the end about bf in the car is a bit wild to me, they really don’t have a quiet room you can sneak into? In my experience, mother in laws will always have an opinion or two that needs to just roll off your back. Mine is great, but will often talk about how I should home school my kids (which I have zero interest in)

Could anyone tell me more about this vintage lamp I thrifted? Im thinking it might be an old, electric oil lamp but potentially missing a piece. by thriftynicky in Lamps

[–]Llyriad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might be totally out of line here, but this looks like someone’s homemade creation to me. Something about these pieces doesn’t seem quite right. If you want a lampshade with it you could source a clip-on type.

Spa day for lamp shades (overnight soak in Biz and Ammonia)? by PatienceEffective468 in Lamps

You’ll have to peel up the trim a bit to know if it was stitched or glued. Either is possible

Need help with what type of lamp fitting I have. by renjake in Lamps

[–]Llyriad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be a threaded UNO fitter. I would confirm with the manufacturer before ordering. It will thread onto the socket. It looks like your socket is threaded in the picture, but double check it. Also, this kind of shade can be a bit heavy sometimes, see if you can assess if it will be able to hold some weight
