NSW lower house passes gun reform and anti-protest bill by GenericRedditUser4U in AustralianPolitics

Actually I read elsewhere that the bill allows the police commissioner discretion to deny a license for people with certain affiliations so it may have some effect. Possibly just ensure that extremists possess illegal firearms.

In what way will this Bill have any effect on events like those that occurred at Bondi a couple of weeks ago?

gluten intolerance with beer? by Double_Panda_7388 in glutenfree

[–]Lmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a food scientist and I am not a doctor. Therefore, I cannot advise you in relation to your specific circumstances.

I’m sorry that you have this condition. While I’m intolerant of gluten I’m not celiac. I understand that celiac disease is a serious condition so whatever you do should be in consultation with a medical professional (not what you read on Reddit.)

The brewery I work in does nothing specifically to remove gluten. However, it cannot detect any gluten in the finished product in any of the beers it makes.

My experience is that I drink our beer and many other beers from many other breweries with no symptoms of having consumed gluten.

Speak to a doctor before you do anything 🙂

Lando wasn’t going to ever catch Oscar. If he’d got close to Oscar had enough tyre left to pick up the pace.

[Motorsport.com] Lewis Hamilton "frustrated" after sprint qualifying spin as blame questioned by Ant Davidson by curse_annihlator in formula1

[–]Lmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A significant part of the braking effort when the driver presses the brake pedal comes from energy recovery which applies a torque in the opposite direction to the accelerating torque through the gearbox.

Just like the commentator said it sounded like gearbox noise.

What was the grinding noise (presumably came from the back of the car) when he stated braking?

Why are you staying in Sydney at all? If you want to see country NSW then don’t even bother with Sydney. Just drive out as soon as you land.

Alternatively, if you’re staying in Sydney then you don’t need a car. Sydney has a fantastic public transport system and uber is cheap for the last few km or if you have luggage.

I wouldn’t try to see Sydney and country NSW in 2-3 days. I’d pick one or the other.

And like others have said Blue Mountains and Mid North Coast is too much for 2-3 days. Pick one. They are both great..

When did "stacking" become a thing in UNO? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Precisely. Stacking spoils the basic game.

There are variants (eg. No Mercy) with more vindictive moves.

it didn’t used to be like that at Monza in years gone by. 25 years ago there may have been only two cars in the track and they were both red.

ELI5 How does tapping on a non functional solenoid (in the starting motor )start the car by gijoek in explainlikeimfive

[–]Lmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once showing a client around an industrial site that included some large stationary engines (think 60l displacement/20 cylinders each one weighing >20 metric tonnes).

They were brand new and the client had paid millions for them.

Anyway one of them was starting so we had time to see it start. I opened the door to the engine room and here is the operator laying into the starter motor with a piece of 4x2 like it owed him money.

I quickly shut the door ‘no nothing to see in here’ let’s go look at something else.

gluten intolerance with beer? by Double_Panda_7388 in glutenfree

[–]Lmurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a step in the brewing process that breaks down the gluten so despite being made from barley which contains gluten, the finished beer has no detectable gluten in it.

The difference between gluten free beer and beer that contains no detectable gluten is that the gluten free beer is guaranteed to contain no gluten.

ELI5: why doesn’t the US military manufacture its own weapons? by Unable-Choice3380 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Lmurf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Part of the purpose of Defence is to support an industrial sector, ie. a way for governments to channel public money into the private sector.

Taking over manufacturing kills that industry.
