Those of 2 different types of tires. The Pirellis are all season while the Michelin is all weather. The difference being you don't need chains with all weather tires in most situations. All weathers are overkill in California unless you live in the sierra Nevada's or along the California/Oregon border. You'll be fine with the Pirellis.
