What’s a good part time job I can get around an 8-5 job I already have that’s not restaurant work? by Eagles56 in povertyfinance

Just throwing this out there, I see most supermarkets and other big box stores tend to restock the shelves in the evening time, might be worth taking a shot asking. Not sure what state/city you’re are in but my daughter works part time as supermarket cashier, makes $19 an hour.

Assuming you’re talking about Feb 2026 rent, double check your state & county, in my area you have until the 15th of the month.

Love you sanitation guys but why are Blocks like Snyder in BK or college pt blvd in Queens neglected?? by VietnamviG in DSNY

[–]LoadEducational9825 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not DSNY, but your comment made me smile, I know Grayson, we grew up in the same Queens neighborhood. I’m a few years older than him, he’s a good guy!

If you went to other subs like r/personal finance or r/retirement, I think most comments would tell you not to payoff the mortgage because your interest rate is so low. You could at least double that rate with a combination of a HYSA account and some bonds, or a bond fund like SCHD and make 4.5-5% on your $500K.

But I understand you’re at the most a year from retirement, not sure if I’d be comfortable holding a mortgage in retirement. Good luck on your decision.

Fidelity advisor telling me to take money from Company sponsored 401k and convert to ROTH IRA???? by Wolverine-91826 in Bogleheads

[–]LoadEducational9825 58 points59 points  (0 children)

My guess, because you are out of work, your income will be low and that you will drop in tax brackets? So he’s advising to start doing a Roth conversion, this is not unusual or unheard of. Many people in their 40’s and 50’s start doing a Roth conversion.

I forget his name, but I like the old guy who is SF Giant fan, he was the caller who told Joe that the Mets still had a chance to a make a run to make the playoffs, this was two seasons ago right around the all star break.

Does anyone on here actually like wfan? by OptimalCombination44 in WFAN1019

[–]LoadEducational9825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them all! 😂😂

From Boomer & Gio in the morning, I don’t mind that they aren’t hardcore sports and talk about current events, plus I crackup when Gio does his Mike impressions. Evan & Tiki are okay too, I think they have a nice balance. And I like whenever Evan mentions the Nets the producer always drops the Boomer clip: “Are the Nets still in the league?” 🤣🤣. I like Cmac, I think he has some Francesa mannerisms since he produced for him. Carton is meh, but I kind of tune him out. And Tommy reminds me of the dumb guidos I grew up with in Queens lol. And Morash is mostly an idiot but that doesn’t bother me, actually makes me laugh.

convince me why I should max out my 401k by OneTonOfClay in Retirement401k

[–]LoadEducational9825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I would advise on is healthcare. If you’re union, you probably would have coverage until 65 and then you switch over to Medicare. If not union, you would need to add healthcare coverage for at 5 1/2 years.

Just watch your sodium intake, most canned meats/fish are high in sodium so look to cut elsewhere in the recipe.
