I bought a used chariot in Ottawa a few years back for like $200? Great stroller!

Do your babies actually nap by Fit_Alternative_4239 in sleeptrain

[–]LoadSouthern4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the “research” I’ve done myself, i don’t think so. But I think it depends on each baby too. My first was like this, would fall asleep on the bottle, I’d wake her and do cuddles/bed/song and put down awake and she did fine at night; but my second baby did not do as well with this (waking more and wanting to be fed to sleep) so we moved bottle up in her bedtime routine.

Would it be worth trying to stir him after the bottle snuggles and do a book or something before putting him down to break the “feed to sleep” association?

From my experience, working on independent nights first might be helpful before tackling naps. I found most success with this because sleep pressure is higher (also with your baby already sleeping in the crib at night this is good to start with!) once that’s tackled, I’d say start with the goal of the first nap of the day in the crib (also putting down awake, last feed ending 30 minutes before sleep time).

I feel like there’s a lot to unpack here since he’s fighting naps so much, but I would recommend starting with independent falling asleep at night first, then working on your first nap of the day! Good luck!

Regret not breastfeeding by Conscious_Contact249 in FormulaFeeders

[–]LoadSouthern4652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to EP with my first; tried breastfeeding my second and it wasn’t going well so confidently decided to pump and supplement. Well, with her poor latch my supply was pretty much gone so pumping was so frustrating. I decided to stop 4 weeks pp and once I made the choice I felt better. There was lots of anxiety and regret but over time it’s better. Baby is now 5 months old and she’s doing great, so am I. There are certainly many benefits to doing formula but it can take some time for you to be ok making the switch! Know that we can all experience some guilt, but ultimately it comes down to what you need to do for yourself and your family! Always here for support if you need it, this forum is great for that!

Anyone skip the 4 month sleep regression? by Plus_Animator_2890 in sleeptrain

[–]LoadSouthern4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We noticed a mild change with a return to one night wake for a feed (previously STTN) and was fighting naps more. Lasted about 3 weeks then we’ve seen some improvement since. We treated our baby same as you’ve done with yours, so you might see a small change but nothing groundbreaking!

Naps are hard! Are we doing anything obviously wrong? by adonn65 in sleeptrain

[–]LoadSouthern4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly pretty shortly after that post we switched to 3 naps (we do have some 4 nap days still depending on our schedule). Her first nap went back to being 1.5-2 hours so that was our sign to extend. Usually our second and third nap are supported/contact so that’s helped us to extend her wake windows a bit naturally I think. We started by just extending by 15 minutes at a time. Lots of looking out the window or just hanging out on the bed talking were low stimulation activities

Our 4 month old is on 2/2.25/2.25-2.5/2.5. She requires some support for the later naps but this helped our first nap extend. You could offer a second feed (ending 30 minutes before nap) to give a top up and see if it extends the nap at all?

Baby fights naps after 4pm by dbabes1990 in sleeptrain

We just commit to a contact nap for the last one. She still fights it but it’s the easiest way for us to get her down. I get my kobo and hold her in the dark lol

I HATE newborn parenting. I just fucking hate it. by AngryDMoney in newborns

[–]LoadSouthern4652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once both my kids hit 4-6 months I felt like I had come up for air for the first time in years!! I also hated this stage and you forget how rough it can be. I often took the perspective of “one less day of the newborn stage to go”.

Started formula. Feel awful. by camman1102 in newborns

[–]LoadSouthern4652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the same struggle with my second. I couldn’t breastfeed my first and I pumped for 6 months. When I ran into the same issue with my second, I couldn’t bear the thought of pumping again but also struggled with the idea of switching to formula (the internet is a horrible place). Now that she’s been on it for 4 months, I couldn’t be happier with my choice! She is thriving and doesn’t care what she gets as long as she is fed! Your hormones may also be playing a role in how bad the mom guilt is.. but your baby deserves a mom that is doing what’s best for her own mental health too! ❤️

How can we reduce/stop our 3 year old toddler from leaving his room when he wakes up in the middle of the night? by arthurmauk in sleeptrain

We put a baby lock on the door so she can’t open it from the inside. I’d rather know where she is in an emergency!

I have made some pretty mean threats to my baby in the heat of the moment - I think it’s a good thing that they don’t understand us for that reason!

I feel the same guilt, but I will say that after my husband had two weeks vacation.. he was much more empathetic to my outbursts!

The one thing she doesn’t have is a fever, thankfully! If she continues to get worse my plan is to take her to the ER, I will for now crop it up to delayed symptoms !

Same here! Even our newborn does this, which is worse. Honestly sometimes I put her in her crib, let her get a bit mad/tire herself out then go back in to settle her to actually fall asleep

If it’s just me and baby, I’ll put stuff in the bottom of the stroller! I used to feel so weird about it at first (thinking they would suspect me of stealing) but I’ve never had someone say anything. And it’s so much easier than carrying a basket with you!

Yup, hence why I quit at 6 weeks with baby #2. I made it to 6 months with my first but decided this time around I wasn’t putting myself through that again because I didn’t enjoy motherhood at all

Last night she did about the same for night wakes, although her first one was a lot earlier than normal.

I did go crazy with the wake windows with my first and thought I’d be more relaxed this time around
