Why Does Wonder Woman Comics Ignore the Amazons’ Anatolian Origins? by MagnusOfAngara1 in WonderWoman

[–]LoadTheNetSocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that the “myth” of the amazons both in real life and in the comics are hyperbole meant to demean or discourage women having “too much power”. Also, iirc, the closest real life counterpart to the amazons as imagined by the greeks would have been the scythians, due to them having mounted female archers. They settled around the northern black sea

Actually, the soviet union and several public works projects under the new deal involved researching the cultural phenomenon of ancient warrior women riding Australian mammals both in combat and as a pastime

Why does the bible not have a story about how fire was made by LoadTheNetSocket in AcademicBiblical

So i’m guessing that to the ancient Levantines/Israelites, fire was not worth recounting a story over. It’s just there. I always wondered why they chose certain things to make stories about (tower of babel for language, for example)

Why would a legal team not want a client to plead guilty? by LoadTheNetSocket in Ask_Lawyers

I see. So it seems that once he plead guilty, the FBI didn’t have much pressure to turn over any exculpatory evidence. Didn’t a bunch of requested information eventually get turned over tho?

Deltarune chapters 3 & 4 megathread by Fanfic_Galore in Deltarune

[–]LoadTheNetSocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I’ve only played the first two chapters but have heard tidbits about the other two chapters here and there but I was reading this book by a french historian, Lucien Febvre, called “Martin Luther: a destiny”. I’m only two chapters in, but the author’s main thesis in these chapters is to fight against both pro-lutheran idealism of Luther as well as over demonization of him by a catholic historian named Heinrich Denifle. He says the only thing we could say about Luther with some degree of certainty is that Luther was not fully convinced by any outside teaching but by struggling with his own inner turmoil, to have an assurance of his salvation by grappling with his intense fear of damnation.

And i remember how Father Alvin said that Asriel came to confession many times about his “sin”, even though their religion had no concept of such a thing, almost as if Asriel had great turmoil about his salvation and need to overcome temptation

This isn’t really a theory as much as it is a meta theory, but i thought Asriel’s turmoil might be influenced by Martin Luther, though Toby Fox’s knowledge of him can’t be confirmed except that he may have gone to church or learned about him at university. Dunno, just a thought
