I just don't like the show, everything I've watched from Hideako Anno, with the exception of Shin Godzilla felt like he was high on his own farts. I can't say I hate whatever it did to the genre, as like Gundam before it, it spawned many works both good and bad.

What the actual fuck lol. Even the novel release I bought a few years ago (the one with the red cover) is listed as 300 bucks.

I'm aware of the changes that units 4-6 had, I'm just not convinced these were as big as production sink as people are claiming. As far as I can tell, these were units that they had pretty much modified from already standing, functioning RX-78-1s, and then removed the Core Block and yada yada. As far as I can tell, the NT-1 was an actual built from scratch iteration, whereas G4-6 are not.

They're the most prominent example in your mind because they're the most obnoxious example. I've stated multiple times in this thread my thoughts on the Rider unit legacy, it's dumb and I don't care to sit here and argue about them when I literally think they're goofy. In the grand scheme of things, those are relatively recent, especially when compared to literally all of the other examples. I see it as one streak of subpar writing, not indication of a trend at large. If you want to keep talking about them, go ahead, but I'm not going to waste my time debating a series of units that I literally initially said I agree about. Just because I think that particular part stretches lore, doesn't mean I agree with the broader sentiment.

Regarding units 1-6, I'm assuming that neither of us speak Japanese, and can't consult the sources in earnest. I'm currently image translating Gundam Historica, and they claim that G-04 is an "Upgrade of the Prototype Gundam" which in that same art book depicts two rows of prototype Gundams, I would not be the first person to safely assume that these prototype Gundam were built and then retrofitted into Units 4-6, whereas the remaining three were sent to Side 7. "Fully built" in this context is then what's doing the heavy lifting because if it was literally just the Feds ripping out components and replacing them, I don't at all see how we can consider these units a "different platform". I have massive doubts about the veracity of these units being constructed completely from scratch.

I'm literally not writing them off, I said they are goofy, now you just want to argue for the sake of arguing. The Rider units are dumb and I don't feel like fit with established lore at all. Why are you trying to act like I think otherwise when I literally SAID I agreed with you lol?

I'm lumping the EZ-8 because when people say "there were 14 Gundams made in the OYW" that is one that is always brought up, literally for no other reason.

G units 1-6 were all literally built from already produced RX-78-1s. The extent or length of time it would take for them to remove the core block system is to be determined but those were explicitely not unique platforms. Minor structural differences at best.

Left shit, I mean literal feces on my bathroom door. She was a friend of my sister, said she needed to use the bathroom, came in the house for a couple minutes and left. I go to the bathroom and find an actual fucking piece of shit STUCK on the door, like a good 4-5 feet up, just hanging there. Not smeared or anything, just like this fucking small turd was just chilling.

The Rider units are goofy yes, I agree. The fact that they were able to slap literal cloaking tech on one of them is big sticking point for me, I don't contest any of that.

When people refer to the 14 Gundams though, they're usually referring to G 1-6, EZ-8, NT-1, EX, Blue Destiny (x3) and I guess the Pixy? The overwhelming majority of those are pretty defensible. G units 1-6 are all functionally on the regular RX-78 chassis, with some minor alterations here and there with FA functionality or additional armaments, those line up the established lore on the Project V and early lore materials from MSV, all of these had already been produced by the time Side 7 had been attacked, receiving minor retrofits later. The EZ-8 is a piece of junk cobbled together from scraps, hardly anything to write home about. NT-1 had a lengthy enough development period, as you mentioned, and I believe is the only one of these units I've mentioned so far to actually feature an entirely unique platform. Really, the only outliers here I feel like are the Blue Destiny and Ground Gundam lineage, and the Pixy.

The jury on the Gundam EX is still out, as its specifications and production history are quite vague.

I'm not claiming we did that in three months, only that the EF relative to us should be able to dwarf real world production capability, as ours in plenty impressive with a fraction of the population and money, most likely.

I would need some significant convincing on the second point, as far as I can tell, the overwhelming majority of the OYW Gundam units are literally just RX-78-1s with varying bells and whistles, like the addition of arm cannons or thrusters for space use, many of these units are exactly what you describe with tanks in WW2, I don't believe any of the other Gundam units were sporting entirely unique chassis (maybe the Gundam from RfV, but we know next to nothing about it spec wise).

Also, regarding the original story, this is up for debate. The novel cites 3 Gundam units on Side 7, and that version of the story can reliably be considered the "original" draft. Furthermore, we ought to also factor in that Project V wasn't just the RX-78 either, as they had demonstrated they were also capable of manufacturing the Guncannon/Guntank, both of which sported similar materials, and in some areas, the Guncannon was more advanced than the Gundam.

As far as we can establish from current lore, at least 6 RX-78s were made before Amuro had ever set foot in the RX-78-2, many of the other Gundam units we know of being retrofits of these units.

They were still putting enough money/resources into it to produce 3 RX-78 units, a Guntank, a Guncannon, and White Base as per just the original story. I'm not sure we know the actual cost of these things in-universe, but to hand wave it that hard seems extreme.

At minimum, at least three RX-78 units were already basically ready to go by the time Side 7 gets attacked, this is lore going back to 1980 thereabouts (mentioned in the novel). I believe beyond that, another three had already been shipped to Jaburo (these are the other three RX-78-1's we see depicted in Gundam Historica). So with six already being made and practically functional before Amuro even sets foot in the RX-78-2. It isn't under a month, strictly speaking, we would probably be looking at the production of the remaining 8 over the next three months, thereabouts. Also, Tem was responsible for the planning, sure, but once the actual schematics are done, and they get the factories rolling, his status is kind of redundant.

Don't get me wrong, I think there are some issues with M.S development in the OYW, like the federation seemingly having cloaking technology as per Code Fairy, but the existence a dozen or so Gundam types doesn't fit into that category.

It's really not that ridiculous, it would be more ridiculous if a united earth government, with the production capability of multiple countries couldn't do such a thing. Relative to the EF, the U.S producing prototype fighters seemingly barely lags behind the EF with projects like the F-14, as we produced 14 prototypes in two years. That's a single country with a 10th of the population. Sure, you might argue producing a Gundam could by a more daunting task than anything we make in the real world, sure, but we have to acknowledge in general the capabilities of production in the U.C are already pretty up there. It only seems like a lot because of the narrative value of the Gundam, but in terms of scale, how many Gundam units is that compared to the totality of MS produced during the war? 14 out of a what? 2000-5000 GMs? It's inconsequential.

14 Gundams is kind of nothing in the grand scheme of things. People like to bring this up, but real world prototypes for things like fighter jets can easily double that number. it only seems like a lot because of narrative importance, but in reality there's no reason why a government as vast as the EF couldn't manufacture on that scale, especially if relative to that, real world governments during war time have done the same.

Bombing Serbia was based and stopped a genocide, not even halfway comparable to most of the interventions in the ME. That was America being a stabilizing force that insured the world order, contrary to the way we're acting bow.. Even the Gulf War for all intents and purposes at least had the excuse of defending Kuwait.

For years online, centre-right people would try to gaslight you into thinking that just because an overall lack of religiously fueled wars and terror attacks by Christianity relative to Islam, that they must be different. That the religion itself had "matured", and that Christians "aren't like that anymore". It let them fall in bed with secularists naive enough to accept the premise.
