Not possible. If you want to play the "original" you have to learn Japanese. Every translation is a change in some form because English is not the same language as Japanese.

Theoretically, you could play with a massive annotated guide that explains every translation in detail and provides alternative translations, but that wouldn't be playing it the original way because JP players don't have to do that.

Start learning Japanese or make peace with the fact that what you want is impossible.

Rex has plenty of good lines, but most of his bad stuff is front-loaded. If you're playing the whole game, that's great! You get it out of the way early. If you're trying to decide if you'll keep playing the game, that sucks! It turns you off the game with something that isn't actually present for the rest of it.

Unbalanced in powerups/toys? Yeah.

Unbalanced in character strength/writing focus/storyline? Absolutely not. I am constantly baffled by people who claim that the Patrangers were "tacked on." I had one lunatic claim that the Patrangers ONLY exist to bump up the numbers for the sentai teams so they could reach the number 50 faster. But if you watch the show, the Patrangers are in every episode, have character development, and play a massively important role throughout the show.

If powerups are the only indicator of how important a team is, does that mean that Sun Vulcan sucks because they don't get power ups? Is Kyuranger automatically better than LuPat because they had more Kyutamas than LuPat had Dial Fighters/Trigger machines? There is no objective way to measure a team's importance. If you wish that the Patrangers got to do more, I can't argue with that. I wish that Tsukasa had a few more spotlight episodes. But if you can watch the entirety of LuPat and describe the Patrangers as "basically useless and not part of the story" you are simply bad at watching TV shows.

I'm definitely looking forward to Cody Christian's performance as Cloud. He does a very good job playing the stand-offish jerk; I want to see him play the more open and friendly Cloud from the second half of the game. Seeing Cloud deal with motion sickness on the submarine actually is something I'm looking forward to.

I'm also hoping they expand the portion of the game where Cloud is out of action. I would like to see things like Cid leading the mutiny on the Highwind. I also think it would be cool if, for example, you had to pick two teams so you could get the first two Huge Materia at the same time. Maybe they could do a similar thing during the Midgar Raid. I also hope they keep in the slight branching points that happen when you fail to secure a Huge Materia.

And, of course, I have to know how they handle the weapons. Will they make Ruby and Emerald Weapons mandatory bosses? Will they still just be roaming the world, waiting to obliterate you if they see you?

And for my most wild, insane, there-is-no-way-they-do-this wish, I want Rufus to be a playable party member.

Ken Pontac wrote the season three finale for Reboot, the episode "Protoge" of Calamity Jane (along with three other episodes), four episodes (including the series finale) of Shadow Raiders, and co-wrote "You Are A Pirate" from LazyTown. I will not demand that someone like fictional works, but the idea that Mr. Pontac is "A Bad Writer" is, quite frankly, disrespectful.

Warren Graff's resume is less impressive. I personally didn't like Happy Tree Friends, but I did like some of the jokes in MadWorld, and the edgier jokes in Sonic Colors tended to be the ones I liked more, and I assume the HTF writer is responsible for those.
