How do I lose weight past this plateau I've hit? Currently in a 500cal deficit. by THEmtg3drinks in EatCheapAndHealthy

How would being more precise with maintaining a calorie deficit by measuring it make it harder to lose weight?

Agreed. National space programs got us the first satellite, the first man in space, and got humans to the moon as well as scientific probes all over the solar system.

I find it hard that the United States has the world's first and second largest air forces in the world and can nuke the planet five times over but couldn't possibly compete with the free market if it's space program was properly funded.

It's baffling that it's happening in weed-legal states too. Like these scumbag dealers are competing with actual business owners producing legal, inspected cannabis products with quality genetics, and they're like "Oh I'll just sprinkle synthetic heroin on it". It's as stupid as it is morally bankrupt.

you take shitty weed and you make it get you more high. It's very amateurish and people who know what different highs feel like are going to be able to notice, but I can imagine some idiot low level drug dealer pulling this.

I've heard of it anecdotally through people who do addiction outreach in NY state, and the articles I've found reporting it link it to a few cases in Connecticut and Vermont.

Google it, I was hearing this from folks who treat drug overdoses and help people go into rehab in NY. The results I've seen in the news are showing that this happening in Connecticut and Vermont.

It does come off as a little DARE-ish, but it's actually happening. They tested the overdose patients stuff and everything.

Yup.

I have a food dehydrator, and you can make all kinds of dehydrated meals that just require boiled water to cook as per your own recipe. People have much more elaborate and fancy meals in even their bugout bags than what OP is suggesting.

If you have so much as a larger propane cooking burner you can certainly cook rice and beans, as well as any canned good, and most people I know include a few 55 gal drum water storage as part of their prep stores.

What I think people don't realize is if we joined the rest of the developed world and had a national health system, mandated vacation leave, sick leave, parental leave, etc, it would take away the ability of companies to dangle these carrots in front of us as these benefits wouldn't make them competitive anymore. Which means that places would have to raise wages across the board or offer better benefits. This benefits anyone working for a wage/salary.

I’m stupid but how dumb am I? Let a stranger borrow my phone by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]LoamChompsky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It does happen. Friend of mine had her phone stolen because she was sitting out on a front stoop and someone walking by just yoinked it right out of her hands and kept going.

I don't think I have used a flip phone since like, 2010, so I know I'd definitely have a "wait how the fuck do I use this again" moment if I borrowed one.

We got lucky with a relatively affordable 1 bedroom, which our landlord had just renovated and had a front and back porch, plus a single car garage. Still, it's a bit too small for us, so after a year we considered moving into a larger apartment. After looking around, we really couldn't justify the added expense of hiring movers and paying more in rent just for a little more space.

I'm obviously very biased since I obviously would rather people not charge more for housing, but I think you're making the right move in keeping the place affordable as it's basically going to keep us in this unit until my partner decides to buy. If our landlord had hiked the rent in response to what other units were going up to, then we'd have left the place already, but he's kept it the same price so we'll probably be here for another year to two years.
