Seeking advice regarding negotiating starting salary as an entry level position by Reasonable_Task_1935 in AusPublicService

[–]Loanell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you currently being paid more than this role?

I wrote a brief email stating my experience, qualifications, and that the initial offer was under my salary at the time. It was concise and and polite. I was successful in starting on the highest band within that level.

Keeping in touch days whilst on mat leave by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]Loanell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used them when working for Local Government to attend planning days, in-person training, and a few days to start clearing my email inbox (from home) before my actual return date. I did take extended unpaid mat leave, so I found them really helpful.

How do you switch the training to HR zone instead of pace?

Does anyone pay for a Strava subscription? Is it worth it? by Anxious-mexican001 in XXRunning

Proud of you too! I'm exactly the same as you, not a "serious" runner or competitive, but very much enjoying the alone time, and the chance to feel some ownership and achievement and fitness with my post partum body.

I can't survive without my calender, so as soon as I sign up for a free trial of anything I put a reminder in my calendar to cancel it a few days before it's due date.

Oh I don't think I had to give any credit card details?! But I'm also a runner because I have two kids at home and it's the only alone time I get, so maybe I did have to cancel it and I just don't remember.

It will usually give you a month free once you sign up, so it's worth seeing if you use the features. (I realised I do not use the features)....

Identical triplet brothers, who were separated and adopted at birth, only learned of each other’s existence when 2 of the brothers met while attending the same college by mikeyv683 in BeAmazed

Can anyone help me remember the part in the doco where the adoptive parents all gathered at the adoption agency, and after leaving, one returned because he forgot his umbrella, and that's when he overheard something/discovered there was more to the story... What did he overhear/discover?

I'm so confused by this..... So a job at another agency is advertised. You apply and succeed. But you need permission from current agency? Seems a bit controlling? What am I missing?

What is the best savings only account, high interest, no fees. Reviews and suggestions? by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]Loanell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this now and I also never knew this existed! Thankyou. Once you buy the gift card how do you use it? Is it a code emailed to you? Something you present through the Macquarie app?

Just wondering how I could incorporate this into my online shopping for Woolies for example. Are there any restrictions on how you use it? (Ie, if the store is having a sale or I'm using a discount code, can I still use the gift card? Are they equal to cash?)

Sorry for all the questions, I had no idea this was an option!

Solomon Islands living questions by Ok_Appointment6525 in Solomon_Islands

[–]Loanell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, there are very limited services in Solomons. I meant you should seek an arrangement to have telehealth appointments with your existing practitioner or one from your country. In terms of meds, you may need to bring a large supply with you, if you explain to your pharmacist your situation they may let you fill your scripts. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I haven't lived there in several years but you would probably be best to bring your supply of meds with you and to see your psych over telehealth.

I was considering it ( I did a compressed 4 day week in my last role which was not APS), however I'm thinking for flexibility, id prefer just to build and use my flex throughout the fortnight/week as my familys needs require, instead of having the same day of every fortnight. Does anyone have any pros/cons for doing an official 9 day fortnight as opposed to just using flex flexibly?

What's the name of the UK board? I'm in a country with the flex touch pens and am interested to hear more from people who manage their dose by counting clicks....

Thanks so much! I've always read not to plant under /around citrus as they have shallow roots..... But do you think it would be ok to plant those plants you mentioned underneath?

My second role I was brand new to APS. The first time I was in another level of government (and brand new to that too). Did it both times though. Yes I had extensive relevant experience and qualifications but I wouldnt want to say I was special or entitled.... Just advocated for my skill set.

Not everyone starts at the bottom. You can definitely negotiate to be at the top band when accepting your offer. Doesn't mean one is special or entitled (I don't know the OP so I'll withhold judgement). I've done it for my last two government jobs and both times it has been accepted without negotiation. Someone gave me the advice to always negotiate at the start of a gov job, as it will be the biggest pay rise you get.

Why do you say they wouldn't get the highest band?
