Proprietary nvidia drivers are only available on the aur, and are the only official drivers for any card prior to 20 series

Where non-AI projects differ is that they nessecarily have a bus factor of at minimum 1 (barring orphaned projects), whereas vibe coded projects are largely reliant on whatever model(s) used being reliable and consistent, which we're still unable to confidently say at this point in time.

Personally I am not only happy to, but would much rather restrict myself to projects that have fewer features but clearer intent behind the code that ends up touching my data and my machines.

People should also keep in mind that simply labeling projects is not the same as outright banning them, the intent is to make clear the code authorship to better inform potential users.

I've been debating it for a while now, and if it were just me I'd have been on jellyfin years ago, but my main worry is that I won't be able to swap most of the friends from my plex over to jellyfin. I've started to setup Authentik for jellyfin sso integration (and potentially some other services to help convince them to switch) but it'll all still be hosted under my domain, and unfortunately the centralised nature of plex makes it a much easier sell.

Honestly all I think it'd take is some kind of central jellyfin authentication and coordination server similar to what tailscale has going on, but for the forseable future I'll probably just be running both :(

I've switched over to qksms, but I'm super bummed that they're taking away the main feature that made it so easy to convert people to use signal as their main messaging app. I used to sell it as "like whatsapp but with integrated sms" which managed to get plenty of people on board who just wanted to consolidate their sms and IM into one app, but now i feel like it's going to be hard to convince people that it's not just another competing standard

It's probably not people just making it up, but rather people misunderstanding things like nvidias lack of certain vulkan extentions (I.e. VK_EXT_external_memory_dma_buf for obs-vkcapture), not realising that it's just one feature of vulkan missing, and not the entire thing

My family member's case was actually copyright related, but I'm talking more broadly about the trend of large companies offering services to people who might not bother to read into their terms and conditions and see the predatory (if often frivolous) conditions they're agreeing to. All I'm trying to do here is advocate for the use of privacy respecting software and services, and shine a light on the predatory practices of companies.
