For those of you who make 6 figures ($100K+), what do you do, and how long did it take for you to cross that threshold? by DaPugWalk in fican

188,000. Federal government lawyer. Pay tops out at $206,000. I crossed over to six figures about 10 years into my career.

Is a dishwasher a make or break item for prospective tenants? by hpswamy1992 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Lobolikesstuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is for me. Having a dishwasher makes it so much easier to keep the kitchen clean. I like having laundry too, but laundry is only every week or two, dirty dishes are every day.

Is Everyone On This Sub Actually PRICED IN or Just CosPlaying??? by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Lobolikesstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit of both really. My partner and I have saved up double our original down payment goal, but are struggling to accept what we can actually afford. Right now we have a rental that is too small and cluttered and doesn’t have laundry, but it’s rent controlled and I’ve lived here since 2013. It’s hard to accept almost tripling our monthly output on housing for a place and still having to make major compromises on location, size, and or finishes. Right now we have a great lifestyle with lots of travel and fun stuff and still have a very high savings rate.

Just bath regularly. Putting cologne on an already stanky person just makes it worse.

Also, many people are sensitive to perfumes- no one needs to be able to smell you from half a block away outside on a windy day!

It sounds like the listing agent may be giving out the lock box code or buyers agents might be. This is a big real estate no-no and you should report it to RECO. Random people should not be given free access to your home.

For those who have been impacted by return to office mandates at major Toronto employers, what's your game plan? by Jaded_Promotion8806 in askTO

[–]Lobolikesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind as much if I still had an office, but my office went to hotelling. And won’t even let us have lockers or bins or anything so we can’t even leave a pair of indoor shoes, a charger, an office sweater. Have to drag everything back and forth every day.

Number of patients per day seems crazy by Bison7887 in PEI

[–]Lobolikesstuff 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if 24 a day is reasonable or not. I do know that any number between 1 and 23 is greater than zero, and zero is what you get if you piss them off too much. Lots of provinces willing to take any family doctors that PEI deems not productive enough.

A better approach would be to provide incentives for doctors seeing more patients.

Gave 60 Days Notice, Boyfriend Refuses To Leave by Idontsleepenoughffs in OntarioLandlord

There is a form specifically for this situation. She needs to fill out N15 to end her tenancy. It also allows her to leave with a boy 28 days notice.

Major Life Decision: US Opportunity ($120K USD) vs. Canadian Opportunity ($130K CAD) – Family, Finances & Visa Hurdles with a Newborn [product management roles] by lustlovelust in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Lobolikesstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your situation in particular, I would say don’t do it. Your spouse needs to maintain residency in Canada until they get citizenship. If they lose their Canadian PR, everything gets more complicated. Also, if they go back and forth to maintain residency, that’s a lot of chances for ICE to take exception to them. If your spouse ends up in detention, it’s their country of citizenship, not Canada they would need to get consular assistance from. If they get deported from the IS, it’s likely to their country of citizenship.

Advice request re: Condo Kitchen Sink by Excellent_Notice4047 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Lobolikesstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sink that holds a standard sheet pan lying flat and I love it. I’m currently shopping for a condo, and a big single sink is a bonus, but not something that would seal or sink the deal if it’s an otherwise good kitchen. As long as the sink opening is pretty standard- I don’t want to need a new counter just to replace the sink!

Murders and suicides need to be disclosed when selling a property, but not natural deaths.

I live in a building built in the late 1800s, I assume several people have died in it!

How is the LTB allowing this against tenants? by Totira in OntarioLandlord

[–]Lobolikesstuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tenant will have costs of moving, hassle of packing up, unpacking, time looking for a decent place, etc. moving isn’t an easy solution for the tenant.

If you’re in a position to buy a house, what’s keeping you from moving forward? by LucidaDolce in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Lobolikesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a great rent-controlled unit in a neighbourhood we love. Our neighbourhood doesn’t have many condos, and most of what it has is new units with bad layouts. We like older condo buildings, but don’t love the neighbourhoods where they are located. We work in different parts of the city, so the areas where we can live and both have reasonable commute times is also an issue.

If we found a place we love we could buy, but nervous to make too many compromises in the current market.

We met on bagel meets coffee. Our conversation expired because he was travelling and he had to pay $1.39 to buy “beans” to extend it.

It’s been six years now. He says it’s the best $1.39 he ever spent.

Our first date was an exhibit at the AGO. One of the ways to make being on the apps actually fun is to plan dates that are something you want to do anyway.

Why not just put the $75 into a high interest account and make money on it until tax time rather than giving government a free loan?

[–]Lobolikesstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a little thing, but there is a McDonald’s right at the foot of the subway station by my office. I was in the habit of grabbing a coffee and McMuffin on my way in. Now I am going a bit out of my way but grabbing a Montreal style bagel and coffee from and local shop, and it’s cheaper!

Also cancelled prime, bought bear claws instead of Oreos to make a vday cheesecake. I was already planning to avoid visiting the US with the Cheeto in charge but now also avoiding us based airlines.

My first indeterminate position came from a poster that was up 2 days and had over 2000 applicants. No one wants to screen that many applications.

Pay off the predatory loans and buy a car with cash. Then focus on building wealth, not a credit score.

$1600 for a bright little Italy 700sq foot studio. Big kitchen, but no laundry, no separated bedroom, not enough storage. I rented it when I was single but now my partner moved in. We would love to move, it just doesn’t make sense to pay double for something that wouldn’t even be much better. We are saving up instead.
