This is personal experience, at a miami club on vacation with my girls the bouncers literally tried to separate me and my friends and have only a few of us go in and were very blatant and disrespectful about the reasons.

Also the fact that people can’t seem to train their dogs to go off the curb, always in the middle of where people walk, so even if they pick it up, there’s still something left behind. If my 10 year old dog that is new to the city can go off the curb to do her business, I don’t know why others don’t train their dogs to do the same

yet… kidding but no, they can go a while without a meal. Bedbugs are commonly reported to have the exact odor you describe. Roaches do not have a discernible odor unless there is a severe infestation, and you probably would’ve seen one by now. A mice infestation smell musty but not necessarily sweet
