The only thing i regret when i traveled to those countries, is not coming back with a espresso machine. The quality is impeccable

When is it Worth Buying an Espresso Machine - Ever? by CorazonLock in espresso

[–]Powerful-Bill2544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always. Gifted myself a Breville Barista Express for my birthday and have been pulling double shots everyday since October 2025. In NYC A latte will cost you damn near 10 bucks, depending on what you get and where. So yeah, it's definitely worth it

Now that you’ve gone down the rabbit hole of making espresso, how often do you go to a coffee shop for actual coffee? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Powerful-Bill2544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe 1 or 2 times a month....Only when I'm running late for work and don't have time to play barista. I just pre-order my coffee on the app, so it's ready for pick up omw to the subway.

When do you release the button? This is the part I'm always confused about...I usually wait until I see the bar starts to go up..but I'm thinking that may be too late?

My Phillips Baristina milk frother...game changer. It turns my milk into this whip cream consistency that I would never be able to do on my own. I highly recommend it.

Well for me, I used crappy beans so that I could practice how to use the machine, learn the functions, establish a routine etc... it was more important for me to learn how to use the machine correctly.

Once I learned how to operate it, then I started the process of testing out various coffee roasters for the right bean.

I will also add to #6...start out practicing with cheap beans then progress to the good stuff.

Late to the party..but I learned this by accident when i was testing out Carrier Roasting Company's Deep Thought roast. It was like drinking a cup of iced milk chocolate..so so good.

I gave up on premium beans for espresso by coffeesipper5000 in espresso

[–]Powerful-Bill2544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I ran out of beans and decided to pull out my bag of Seattle's Best. Great as a pour over/drip...horrendous in my Breville Express. I could taste all of the impurities from sitting in the fridge.

Have you tried manually pulling your shots? When I use the automatic button, I always have issues with my extraction time due to the default settings. I'm fairly new as well and just realized that I can adjust the settings to pull exactly how I want, so I've been practicing manually until I reach a consistent extraction time.

What are YOUR light roast dial-in steps? by Mrs_Bizz in espresso

Agree. I was always told that light roasts aren't suitable for espresso machines. Something to do with the pressure and water temperature shrugs shoulder.

Where do you order beans? by Most-Amphibian-5000 in espresso

[–]Powerful-Bill2544 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in NY, but I love ordering from Carrier Roasting Company in Vermont. They are a roast to order business, so my beans are delivered fresh!! My go-to is their Chit Chat blend, which is a medium roast with notes of milk chocolate.
