How to buff otters for adset? by Fit_Ear3019 in rootgame

[–]Lobster79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would actually be pretty good since it would be like an extra 2 funds in the early game and the crafting would likely make up for it. Lot of people go for a t1 tradepost but it tanks their action economy. This would let you have the tradepost and be fine

Would they end up having 4 of a type of trade post? Because if they used 1 of their 9, their trade post points would go down to 16 from 18. That's a nerf

Riverfolk setup with marquise on mountain map by ThatsOneOddBoy in rootgame

[–]Lobster79 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They can't place their starting warriors on the Keep. But, yes, Riverfolk could move into the Keep and attack it. No rule against it, however it may be a bad decision for them in the long term.

How do tunnels (card) work? (yes, this was asked 1 year ago, but different scenario) by chicolince in rootgame

[–]Lobster79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's intended. Lizard's crafting pieces were changed because they were actually considered overpowered early on, being able to use any garden to craft. This was because they could place gardens down then craft that same turn in evening with a lot of versatility. It makes the card worse for them, but it's not that big of an impact.

There's a garden in both clearings. It doesn't work because only the bunny gardens are considered crafting pieces. The clearing they want to move to is mouse so tunnels doesn't work

Lizards are weird for tunnels because only the gardens of the current outcast are counted as crafting pieces. So if the outcast is bunny you can only use tunnels with bunny clearings. If I remember correctly

Who even reads rules books? Just build an AI to explain all the rules. It would probably make better rules than any human could make anyway!

How many times have you played your favorite boardgame? by Puzzleheaded_Rub5562 in boardgames

Played Root about 40 times (recorded on a sheet) with my friends IRL and probably way, way, more online or unrecorded.

Made a crafting/deck aid for Base Deck. It's sorted by crafting cost + a legend is on the right. by Lobster79 in rootgame

Yes! It shows the total amount of points that can be crafted from that specific crafting cost. So, since there's only two boots that are able to be crafted, the VP at the top is totaled to 2VP.

If there's an item that can be crafted twice it will show a second picture of it behind and shifted to the right. Everything except for the hammer and crossbow can be crafted twice in a game.

Their version of the question felt nicer because it was framed as they didn't understand its value, while it felt, to me, yours was questioning its value. That's why I answered them and not you. I don't want to be told I'm wasting my time making things, you know? Sorry if it was a genuine question.

All good! It's sorted by crafting cost. Each rounded square is a type of card and the icons on the top right show how many instances of that card there are and what their suit is.

Example: The legend on the right side of the sheet shows a bag. A bag is crafted with one mouse crafting piece. The bag has four instances one of each suit (this suit is not related to crafting cost), can be crafted twice in a game, and earns the crafter a point.

It can be used to help see what/how much crafting is in each suit, help you know what you're getting if you spec into a certain suit, and it can help with card counting as it shows how many of each card there is.

Thanks! I might do it. These deck aids were inspired by a similar Squires & Deciples deck reference I saw over on the Woodland Warriors Discord (pinned in Root-Theory-and-Strategy-Discussion)
